I am just curious. I know the text books say that our cycles should be 28 days, but so far I have only every heard women on this forum tell about longer cycle lengths. Is there really anyone out there with a 28 day cycle (or even shorter) or could the average cycle length actually be longer these days? (or is 28 days just a convenient number for the text books because it's exactly 4 weeks)
mine are roughly every month, but last abit longer than 7 days.

Mine is a 30 day cycle normally. But since TTC is more like 45 days :banghead:

I have had the occasional 28 day cycle, but I seem to go anywhere up to 35 days.
I remember when I was 12 and had my first AF, I went through my calendar for the entire year and put a star every 28 days so I would know exactly when AF would be visiting! I soon found out how incredibly wrong those text books are...
I don't even think about it
it must be 28 days
Probably a month
Hard to say when you are pregnant
or feeding for seven years straight
Have had a few periods in between
just to help with dates!

Mine is 29 days but I ovulate late - usually day 17 or 18.
This is supposed to be a problem with conceiving according to the textbooks (luteal phase too short) but it's never been a problem for us. I don't think the text books know everything ;)

Well I know this this not science at it's most scientific, but so far, we're seeing about 25% of us have cycles that are roughly textbooky. Makes me feel a bit more normal in my "abnormal" cycles.
Loved your story Shelle about marking off on the calendar for the full year when all your AFs would fall!

Perfect 28 days here and has been since cycle number 1 :smiliedance:
Only took weeks to get back into the old pattern after the birth of my son - I was hoping for a bit longer :(

Prior to pregnancy I had a 21 day cycle.
Since having my baby have only had two AF's and they were 42 days apart.

When I first got mine I think i had them every three weeks.. and they would last for about three weeks too!
Now they are extremely spiratic - last time it was 11 weeks, usually around 5 - 6 weeks and never less than 5 weeks.
Seems strange that as soon as I got the "ok to breed", my reproductive system says "hands on heads no playing"

Mine are usually 35 days but since I've been on clomid the gap decreases each time the dosage increases, I am now on a 28 day cycle.

I've always been regular, but never actually counted days until TTC. I was on depo-provera for 7 years, so had no AF :smiliedance: ! Since coming off BC I have been consistently shorter than 28 and since my M/C I've been exactly 26 days. Thanks heaven for small blessings! :)

I was on the pill for 7 years before TTC #1 - so I had a perfect 28 day cycle, but it was chemically simulated. When I came of the pill, I had one 31 day cycle, then fell pregnant. Since then, I've had several 31 day cycles, a couple longer and a couple shorter. I never know when AF is going to rear her ugly head, and I can see this is going to be a problem in the future, when TTC #2!

Thanks to everyone who voted on this poll!
I think it's great to see the spread of cycle lengths. It's so evenly spread that we should all feel "normal" no matter what our cyle length... or at least know that we aren't alone.
So after 40 votes,
25% of us have a cycle length very close to the 28 days of the text books,
17.5% have shorter cycles
40% have longer cycles
and 17.5% have irregular cycles
I was on the pill for about 6 years. Since coming off it I had two 26 day cycles in a row and for the last 2 months I have been taking Vitex and had 35 day cycles. I am still trying to work it all out myself :banghead:
I remember when I was 12 and had my first AF, I went through my calendar for the entire year and put a star every 28 days so I would know exactly when AF would be visiting! I soon found out how incredibly wrong those text books are...
 I didn't exactly the same thing and boy was I in for a shock!

I didn't know until I started charting that my cycle has a mind of it's own. One month it was the average 28days, then it would jump to 33 days. My last cycle was around 35 days & I ovulated on day 21, we caught the eggie this time round too.. :) :) .. Good luck.
i am 24 - 30 days, it slowly creeps forward and back by a day each month
Well used to be 30 days exactly even when I stopped the pill but now we are TTC its been 60 days :( and no BFP :gloomy:
