Why do they do this?

Does anyone else not like how they put little things on zips of babies tops to so you can zip them up easier/looks prettier etc?

EJ has one pumpkin patch top that has a little metal flower attached which i worry about . Yesterday my BF bought her a vest that has a little 2 inch tag thing on the zip - i looked at this tag and thought thats going to end up in her mouth..

Put it on her this morning and within 5 mins its in her mouth :eek: It looks pretty well attached so i dont think it would come off but are things like this really neseccary? Im mean i dread to think what would happen if they came off? I've now cut off this tag.

I re-sew all the buttons on new clothes for my little girl. I did it with DD1's clothes until she got to about 2 and I do it now for DD2. It puts my mind to rest about them not falling off and being swallowed and it only takes 5 minutes before I put them in the wash.

As for tags on zippers - who knows, maybe they think we are all arthritis ridden with big, fat fingers and can't hold that tiny little zip bit....
