When do you stop feeding ur baby in the middle of the night? Do u let them drop the feed there self? or do u decide to stop giving it?

My DS is 5 mths and sleeps through most nights but there are some nights where he wakes up, i try to resettle him but if he wont get back, i feed him and that gets him back off to sleep so just wondering if u ever get to point where u stop giving a feed.

You could try giving him some cooled boiled water. When I did that for Oliver at about 5ish months it only took a couple of nights before he stopped waking looking for food.

As long as your bub is getting heaps of milk during the day, and sleeps though most nights anyway, its probably just a comfort thing. :)

hey there kayla!
DD still drinks throught the night, well i presume she does =p
i co sleep and i never wake up in the night at all, never have since she was born. so she's either sleeping through or drinking as she pleases.
but when i was still with her dad he said he'd wake up in the night time to hear her fidgeting around and then drinking, so i think she does drink in the night.
i wont be dropping it at all, until she does. i don't want to just stop her from doing something she wants =] if that makes sense.

Harlan is still waking twice a night for feeds, hes a big boy though (8kg!) he drinks heaps during the day too, but we are waiting til we introduce solids after 6months til we try and knock out the night feeds. i figure if hes waking he must need them... but i dont want to be doing it for toooo long otherwise ill end up with a 3yo still waking in the night again (yep my 3yo wakes MORE than my 5month old grr)

DS2 is 4 months old and wakes for a feed most night around 3am. He was sleeping through until last month when he got sick, then it chucked his routine out. We're just going with it as we figure he must be hungy as he drinks the entire bottle dry LOL!

I think from memory we just let DS1 drop his night feeds, it was roughly around 8 months of age.

Babies go through various stages of growth, he could very well be having another growth spurt. DS2 is a feeding machine this last fortnight and is slowly slowing down again this weekend.

My daughter droped her night feed at 7 mths. Most nights she wakes, I re-dummy, change nappy, and re-settle. If she dosn't settle then i give a small feed around 100mils and that tends to work. I figure she needs it if she is not going back to sleep. DD is now 9 mths, has 4 bottles one smaller then the rest, she wakes at 10pm looking for a feed still.
