China's recent melamine* scandal continues to shake the world up. More countries are becoming affected.

In terms of food for your family, has this event changed the way you purchase and what you purchase? Are you more intent on reading food labels and looking for where it was produced? Or have you always been diligent at determining this before you buy?

We'd love to hear your thoughts and find out if it's changed the way you do your grocery shopping.

*Melamine is a cheap industrial chemical that some Chinese manufacturers were adding into low-quality milk products to increase the protein levels. It has since been detected in some non-diary food groups.

I have always preferably bought Australian Owned where ever I can

I often buy organic, and buy preservative and color and chemical free if I can

I have by choice, mostly avoided foreign goods anyhow.

I am a little more observant, but cannot see a great change in my purchasing habits.

I am with KayteO and QTB..... I tend to buy Aussie brands made and owned, and buy foods from the health food isle, that is preservative free etc....

So it hasnt really effected the way I shop.

It did make me utterly disgusted at what has happened though, and so angry that it could happen...

But yeah, hasnt impacted me at all in regards to shopping....

I mainly still buy the same. I've also preferred to take the time to search for the Australian-made products that don't use imported ingredients.

It's still made me look though at different things .... things I'd never thought about being made somewhere else. (Makes the shopping take even longer!! )

Yes it has, I have always been concious of where the products I buy are grown and produced and will always try and choose the Aus version before anything else. If I cant, I will buy NZ products instead.

Anything from china such as seafood/meat products and produce have always been OFF the list IMO. I cannot understand why we need to import seafood from these countries considering we are surrounded by the ocean!
