Hi

I'm looking at approaching local hospitals in my area to see what information packs/bags they hand to new mums when they leave the hospital. The pack/bags have information about local services available to all new mums. I'm looking at the Mornington Peninsular area in Vic. I am after some feedback from mums who have recieved these types of packs, your assistance will help my research.

Did you view the information in these packs?
What services did you like most?
Did you take up any of the services offered in the packs?
What services do you think should have been included?

Would a Mobile Beautician service offering - Waxing, Facials, Manicures & Pedicures that comes to your home be of interest for you?

Would you use this Mobile Beauty Service before going into hospital?
What would be the benefits of a Mobile Beautician service to you?
What would be the disadvantages of a Mobile Beautician service to you?

Please add any extra comments as well.

Thanking everyone in advance for their help and input.

Kind regards
Sonia Murphy:)

Hi Sonia,

I am a New Mum of a 5 month old baby boy and a Beauty Therapist.

I think mobile beauty therapy is a great thing however its a lot of work if you are only going to someone for a simple eyebrow wax- carrying the wax pot and waiting for wax to heat up etc for what $10 at the most. It would be good if your advertising pamper packs like facials including waxing or mani/pedis that take up a bit of time and you can charge reasonable money. I also find that I have a portable table but its so heavy, i could not lift it on my own.

Facials/massage is also something that IMO needs to be done in the correct environment to be completely pleasurable. If you go to someone that has 5 kids running around or DH with a TV going in the background, you could be doing the best massage ever but the experience would not be the same.

Have you thought of setting up at home and offering cheap prices and getting people to come to you for a break??

I do it from home and have cheap prices and will work anytime. For most it suits them after hours when DH is home to mind kids or they have finished work for the day. I have cheap prices which attracts more business and people that come for massage usually turn up in pjs! Its more a comfort thing for them to come to me and feel relaxed rather than go to a salon. I am happy for them to bring thier kids/babies and this is what I find suits.

I do believe that mobile beauty is worth trying if you have the time and effort to put into it. Advertising in the baby bags is also a great idea, mums will really have a good look in these bags, especially first time mums!

These are only my opinions so please dont think I am in anyway telling you what to do, just giving you some things to think about and take from it whatever you want.

Would love to hear how you go with this, PM me and let me know whether or not you have success! Good Luck Sonia, hope it goes really well!

I actually thought of doing this too. Im also a beauty therapist and was thinking of doing beauty parties. Maybe get in touch with a list of mothers groups and that way while you are doing the treatment for one mum their bub is being watched by the other mums and they could basically take it in turns IYKWIM?

Thank you for your suggestions Leanne & Jaimie.

I have been doing the Mobile Beauty Business for the last 12mth with client growing regulary. I have all portable equipment. I use a light weight waxing system that suits my mobile needs, its called a PhD system. I don't need to worry about taking wax pots as they would be too hard to get in and out of the car.
I currently offer packages to eliminate going to someones home for just an eyebrow wax.
I'm always on the look out to expand my business and see what other think about my ideas.

Thank you again for your input
Kind regards
Sonia Murphy

I will be

What services did you like most?
Not too sure as of yet cos I obviously haven’t received one

Did you take up any of the services offered in the packs?
It may be a possibility

What services do you think should have been included?
HOUSE CLEANING!

Would a Mobile Beautician service offering - Waxing, Facials, Manicures & Pedicures that comes to your home be of interest for you?
This would be of great interest to me (I have searched for a mobile Beauty Service in my local area..but have difficulty finding any...which is a shame cos I believe I really would use there serviced providing the price is right)

Would you use this Mobile Beauty Service before going into hospital?
Yes definitely!! nails and waxing

What would be the benefits of a Mobile Beautician service to you?
before I was pregnant i commonly only got Brazilian waxing done..However now that I am pregnant, I am to embarrassed to continue to get this service done (I’m not even sure they would preform on someone that is pregnant) Anyway I've very self conscious of my un-maintained area while being preggy and its unfortunate that I can't hire the services of a beautician in the privacy of my own home.

What would be the disadvantages of a Mobile Beautician service to you?
With a new baby, I would be worried about her crying while in the process of having something done.
