one of those things in the shape of a head, with seeds on the top, so that when you water it, it grows hair :)

Does anyone know what its called or where to get one?

I dunno about those, but wack some wheat or seed into an old stocking and let the long bit hang down into water in a jar. you can always sew bobbly eyes on it for effect!
