Do any of you feel weird buying preg tests and baby magazines??
I don't know... hubby always buys them for me! Man, I sound like I have him so whipped, but I swear we're equal! He's just a super super lovely boy :cloud9:

I always feel weird buying the tests- but I think it's because when I was studying and working at a supermarket- I'd always try and work out whether or not the person buying the test was hoping she was or wasn't! Now I wonder if people do the same to me!
I picked out what I wanted to name my daughter when I was like 13- but when I went to visit my sister and her new baby in the hospital she asked me to name her little one and I gave her the name instead! Now I can't think of anything that compares! :p
For boys- I like the names Lachlan and Joshua!

Oh wow - that's so sweet that your sister let u name her daughter - can i ask what the name was?
I always feel a bit weird buying the tests - mainly cos we are in a small country town and I always see someone I know at the shops. As soon as someone sees you buying a test they automatically assume you are pregnant!!
Siren - i like the names u have picked. I actually love Eleanor but DH prefers just Ellie. I'm not so keen on the shortened versions of names. My brother's name is Sam - not Samuel but just Sam. My mum thought that would make things easier but surprisingly it has made things harder!! He constantly has people write his name as Samuel!!

Wow ladies, lots of interesting conversations today!
Names - my fav baby topic!!
The names on my "list" at the moment are
Rylee Addisyn, Asha Grace, Olivia, Myah, Ava
Kadeyn Jack, Lachlan, Ryley
My DH is pretty good around the house, most of the time anyway :)
Believe it or not, I haven't actually bought a Pregnancy/Baby mag yet - suprisingly!!! I have just about every baby website bookmarked in my favourites though!
As for preg tests, I was so worried about buying them, that I ended up ordering a packet of 2 from an online pharmacy! Even though we're not TTC til March, I wanted to have one in the house, just in case.
So, when are you ladies going to start TTC?? We are starting March! WHOO HOO..I just said to my hubby that next Sunday (1st Feb) we will be able to say "next month we are going to start trying for a baby!!!" :yelclap:
I starting taking Blackmores Concieve Well on the weekend:smiliedance: One step closer....
Hope you are all well

Oooh lotsahugs, getting close!
We started trying around Oct last year, but then I decided I should lose a little weight, but I haven't gone back on the pill or anything, so technically it could still happen any time.
AF has still not arrived for me girls, but my back is aching like a b!tch, and that's usually an AF sign for me. I'm now into my longest LP ever :yelclap:
Hey girls... going to be another long b oring day at work today for me!! What are you all up to??
I thought of another girls name I like yesterday... Taylah... loved it for a couple years now!! DH is stuck on peyton though.. he loves one tree hill as well!! His family thinks Peyton is too American, but hey, I am from North America... i can choose american names if I please!!
PreggySiren

Hey mrskb :sunshine:
I like Peyton. I agree it sounds American, but TOO American? Who cares! If you like a name, you like a name, right? Plus hubby is backing you up which is always a plus
Today I *should* be cleaning our bathroom  We move out of our unit on Tuesday, and it really needs a big clean, lots of elbow grease... but my back is aching, so I'm kinda putting it off...

I'm working today but hopefully will have tomorrow off - YAY!! I like the name Taylah too - actually suggested it to my cousin a few years ago when she was trying to come up with girls names and she ended up using it!! Turned out to be perfect - not too girly but still very pretty. Did u bring your full list of names to work?

Hi girls, i see we've been talking baby names.. mine are sort of already picked..
Bailey Jay for a boy
Brooke Paige for a girl... but I also like Mahliyah for a girl but DF hates it, he thinks it sounds like an african american name or something.. but thats why i like it hehehe :)
I used to love the name Tahlia when i was younger but its worn off now..
on another note, im putting some photos from my hens night onto my profile thingy if anyone wants to have a look :)

Morning girls!
Quiet and boring day for me today as well, but i do finish early today and tomorrow then its the long weekend! yayayay!!:)
hmmmm...... baby names, i like so many girls names but i don't have any for a boy
what has everyone got planned for the long weekend?
I didn't bring my complete list today... ended up watching mamma mia last night instead of compiling a list... but I found an awesome baby name website where you can save all the names you like in lists!! It's nameberry.com! I'm going to have a look now.. will get back to you on the names!
On a baby-making note... we Bd'd again last night... If we don't get an eggy this month.. i'll be going to the doctor to see if all is well, I feel like we have BD'd at all the right times!
Morning girls!

Bah, this bathroom cleaning is exhausting. I just cleaned out all the drawers, the shower & power vaccuumed to pick up some dust... now to start the hard work. But first, a BH break
Oooh, I'm going to have to check out that website for names! I was chatting with DH last night about girl's names (he's decided I'm preggy now, so he reckons I need to hurry up and settle on some ). He really likes Eleanor. Old & classic, but can be shortened into cute things like Elle, Ellie, Ella etc. Do you guys think Eleanor Lea works? Pronounced like Lee. It's a special family name so I'd like to use it... at some point!
As for the long weekend, I'm taking a break out of cleaning & going into the mountains to have a picnic on a cliff with my girls. DH is staying home & supervising some carpet cleaning. He insisted I go & hang out with my mates, which was super sweet of him.

Jamie Ryan, Jamie Patrick? That's actually kinda hard! Hamish basically mean James, but Jamie Hamish sounds a little repetitive :D

What's DH's name? Does it fit? I guess probably not or you probably would have thought of that
For a boy, I'm going to use either Christopher (as DH & I both have a brother Chris) or William (which was both of my grandfather's names... well one was Dutch so it was Wilhelm - but same thing.) Or I might get away with Lea there as well. DH is convinced we won't have any boys though (even though he desperately wants one) because we have 6 nephews already & no nieces (and SIL thinks she has another boy on the way). Odds are a bit against us!

It's quite funny though...Brodie is now out for me as it means "muddy place, ditch" LOL
Also my name says that it was popular during the 70s and 80s but is by no means fashionable anymore and DH's name is a former teen idol now middle aged
I'm now loving Thomas James for a boy and Eliza Jennifer for a girl

Hey Girls
No luck here this month, Looks like I didn't actually ovulate but had it turn into a hemorrhagic cyst which burst so lots of ow and also lots of sookie opiate painkiller couch time.. Need to find a funny movie.. :crying:
I am planning on taking advantage of the long wait till next O and indulge in some very expensive soft gooey an possibly mouldy and stinky cheese tonight with some red wine I've had sitting around looking lonely since before christmas..
Ooh and I have a new decanter and glasses to enjoy it with as well! Yep! my much anticipated christmas present - my Peters of Kensington order arrived today Hurray!! omg such a massive box of kitchen and house stuff for just 7$ postage.. bargain!! I got a $300 cast iron enamel french oven for $115.. awesome for bakin' bread or caseroles n roasts and more assorted baking stuff. God I love that shop, they have black silk scalfs for $1.50!!
ooh but bugger my obsession with kitchen goods and trying to take my mind off having to wait 4 weeks to try again..
Siren, are you often late in your cycles?? I for sure think there is hope. :D Might just be a leeetle early darling.. we all know most HPT's can be unreliable, no? and things can change re test results, very quickly :D
Preggy vibes :goodvibes: to everyone in those incredibly slooow seeming 2 weeks!
But hey, what's 14 days when we can all look forward 9 Entire..months of puking our guts up and having sore boobies and getting kicked in the bladder and crying cuz we saw a puppy on telly.. very very soon I'm sure!! :D Can't wait!
Looshkin
22-01-2009, 15:38
And because I am bored and ever so slightly lonely with DF and everyone I know at work n' busy. :(
So What does everyone think about star signs? what star signs are all of you? Laugh at me if you wish, I find it all very interesting.
My mum does birth charts and my brother did a program where you can pop in the time of birth, place of birth (long and latitude) and you get a reading.. Mine has been.. well very very accurate. Let me know if anyone wants one I'm happy to email one across.. and they are very interesting!
So the grrls waiting to test this month would be due in October right? (lol my drug hazed brain hopefully getting basic maths correct and baby fundamentals here..)
So October babes would be mostly librans, obviously as a libran I am biased and think they are Fabulous!
Although decision making, well obviously that drives everyone crazy. Like 3 of my friends when first getting to know them have asked ' jesus are you a libran or something' after taking excessive time to make a decision lol!! And obviously I also dribble on ALOT. I swear DF's most common phrase " and the point was" so um yeah the point was..
Have you thought about your babes starsign or Birthday? Would you ever try to conceive a certain sign or time of year?
I really hope I conceive by Febs cycle as March is a dec baby and April is a Jan baby.. 2 Reasons I want to avoid this if possible.
It is SO HOT to be about to pop in december and Jan..
Also All the people I know born in December complain about getting ripped off present wise!
Obviously I'm not THAT picky, I just want a BFP next month so I can have a lovely november 09 bubbie, that's all lol!:D:rolleyes:

i dont think it matters that you will be 26 cause you technically started trying before you were 26 so you can still join us

OMG a hemmorhagic cyst sounds horrible! I hope you're feeling ok Zeltronica.
Re: the cheese... because I'm feeling a little down, hubby offered to bring me home some camembert/brie with crackers, and we'll bake it in the oven so it's all runny and hot. *Drool*
I wouldn't say my cycles are spot on, but my LP generally is. The longest cycle I ever had was straight off the pill - 39 days. But I don't know when I O'd in that cycle. I'm now CD34. Considering my LP has been short (8days), and boosted to 10days when I took B vits, I thought now that I'm not taking anything, it'd be back down to 8. But I think I'm at 12 at the moment, and that's a little strange. I shouldn't complain though! Thanks for the preggy vibes ;) :goodvibes:
With the star signs, I'm generally a sceptic, BUT I do love to be proven wrong & astrology has been remarkable accurate in my case. I've charted myself & DH & we compliment each other perfectly. I was also hoping this would be my month because we'd have a Libran (DH is a Libran), but god forbid if I'm early because I've never met a Virgo I can get along with  If nothing else, it's very interesting. I wouldn't try to conceive at a particular point, but I would love to have a fire sign (because I'm full of fire right through astrology & into palm reading etc). I have lots of Capricorn friends, love Aquarians, and find Geminis charming (but dangerous because they manipulate me!)

yeah but that is about the depth of my knowledge when it comes to that stuff

22-01-2009, 16:29
Lol so you're a saggie then?
hehe makes sense cuz my DF and Bestie are both Aquarius and pretty much the rest of our closest friends/ other couples are saggies, leos, capricorns and geminis.
and thats pretty much it, over and over.. .
I am a virgo.... please don't not get along with me PS! lol!!
Zel- can you do me a star sign reading thing?? I'm into all that. Hubby is a Leo.. born in April!

 I'm always willing to give Virgos a chance. You're great... for now :p Aren't Leo's mostly August? April is mostly Aries? Am I wrong? They're both fire signs, I know that
You sound like you like the same kinda people I do Zeltronica  Isn't that weird?
Woo hoo... i'll be the coolest virgo ever!
I've only got a half hour of work left... i'm so tired today!!! I'm going to go home and watch mamma mia! I got it on blu ray last night... I'm in love with that movie!!
How do I calculate how long my LP is?
Looshkin
22-01-2009, 17:03
bahaha.. I have an inner struggle as I'm libran with virgo moon (what they say is your inner self) and Leo rising (what you present to the world)
Growing up with a Virgo mum did my head in though "everything in it's place, and a place for everything" hehe.. probably only because I WANTED things to be super organised.. But I was just all over the place as much as I tried.
No probs mrskb all I'm doing is sitting here watching re runs of 'the office' oh the lulz! .. anyway Just PM me your date of birth, time of birth and the place, if it's not a city or you were born rural,I think it needs to be within a degree for acuracy so nearest town etc.
I'll just stick it on here
DOB- 10/09/1985
Time of birth: 8:35am
City: Ajax, Ontario, Canada
Hopefully canadian cities work!!
I'm a virgo, but am totally not an everything in it's place person... I'm more like you with the wanting it to be organised, it just never is!

This waiting game is killing me.... I have another week to wait before I can test. Does anyone else feel these weird fullness sensations 'down there'? I have felt stuff since I ovulated. Hi IloveJR and jjboz, welcome!
What have you been up to spludgie? You've been quiet..
MrsKB - If you know when you ovulate - the time between ovulating and AF arriving is your LP.
So say for me if I had a 28 day cycle () and I ovulate on day 14, and had AF appear 14 days later, your LP is 14 days, the average Luteal phase is 10 - 16 days apparently LP needs to be above 10 days for pregnancy to stick or won't have time to implant before AF comes. I was looking into this, apparently eating yams and like siren was talking about B vits can lengthen your LP.
Apparently LP will not vary more than a day either side, even if the time BEFORE you ovulate does.. so..
If you have a regular cycle then you work out ovulation day. (bbt or poas etc)
Count days from ovulation to AF.
This is your LP.
I found this interesting because I've had some 45 day cycles so maybe it took longer for me to build an adequate lining or grow an egg I still would have ovulated 10 - 16 days before I got my period.. :detective:
Oh and to everyone that sent PM's I'm working through them, I'll email you the thingy but I'm having to work out the longtitude and Latitude of each town/city so I'll get to you!
hey i am from Geelong, but I live in Perth at the moment.
Yay another geelong girl!!! Good luck to you!!

Hi Girls,
Thought i would post in this thread as well as I have been posting in the other 25 thread.
Im 25 & DP is 25 We have been trying since Jan 2008. But we are on a break at the moment as I couldnt do it anymore & put up with the dissapointment and the tears every month with seeing AF arrive. I know we should keep trying & not to give up but we are getting married in October so i dont want to be 9 months for the wedding.. Dont mind if i am 6 though :) This at least gives us a good excuse as any to stop trying. We need the break. We will start again soon though..Yay.. Noone knows we have been trying for so long as i dont want people tip toeing around us so its great to talk to other people in hub bub. Fingers crossed that everyone gets the BFP's they deserve.

Hi and welcome Lil Hailz!!
There is a sticky post somewhere with a full list of the abbreviations used here but just to help you out here are a few we use quite regularly...
TTC - trying to conceive
PG - pregnant
HPT - home pregnancy test
AF - Aunt Flo (your period)
OPK - ovulation prediction kit
POAS - pee on a stick
DH or DP - darling husband or darling partner
DS or DD - darling son/darling daughter
TWW - two week wait
Hope that helps a bit!!
As for advice on getting started....have you been to see your doctor? Before TTC I went to see my doctor and had a chat with her about what we needed to be doing. I found that she had some great advice. She also sent me for a blood test to ensure I was in the best of health.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. All the girls here have some great advice.
Good luck

Hey everyone. I am 25 and my partner and I have been TTC since late Nov 08. All my friends have kids and I feel like I have been left behind.
Good luck to you all out there. I hope you get your :bfp: very soon.
Hey everybody.... I've had some mild cramping in my lower belly, as well as some little pain like twinges I think in my cervix. Anybody ever had this? Could be me making something out of nothing! We just tried so hard this month... I can't help but hope!

Hi everyone,
Im 24 and DH is 28. I just had a Missed M/C followed by D&C in dec 08. TTC to conceive this month after AF came 4wks after D&C.
MRSKB- at the moment im the same as you. I have had a whole list of symptoms (incl ones i had the first time around). My nose/gums are bleeding, i have a metallic taste in my mouth, real bad indigestion, cramping, sharp pains etc and my AF was due yesterday and hasnt arrived yet. I did hpt yesterday but i got :bfn: so I too dont really know what is going on..... has this happened to anyone else?
Good luck to everyone... maybe next month?:babydust2:

ARGHHH...... I am out of control! I keep doing HPT and of course they are all :bfn:, it is waaayyy too early for it even to be a positive, but yet i keep doing it to myself and then get disappointed, even though i know what it will be....
Sorry for the rant, i am just annoyed at myself

27-01-2009, 15:48
ooh mrsKB could be implantation cramping??
How exciting!
Jenka what type of HPT did you use? best to use one of the brands that you can test 5 days before period is due, I think there is a brand that is so sensitive you can test 10 days before periods due, which would mean like 4 - 6 days post ovulation for most people right? Hmm.. :detective:

I used First response and i think from memory it reads 25mIU/ml (as early as 4 days before your missed period).
Im having so many symptoms that I cant ignore what is going on, but because of the BFN I'm putting it down to my body/hormones being out of whack.
I have read a few times women saying the hpt kept reading -ive until 2wks after missed pd which gives me some hope :fingerscrossed: hehe.. i think Im really dreaming!
Could it be implatation cramping?? I think I'm only about 2 DPO.... didn't think implantation occured until about 5-7 days.

:fingerscrossed: mrskb that it's implantation cramping!! Do u know the exact day that u O this month?
I'm thinking that I am about 7DPO today but i'm not 100% sure as I didnt temp this month or use an OPK. For the last 2 days I have had a lot of cramping and have been feeling like i want to :barf:. Hopefully this is a good sign but it's driving me crazy as i feel like i need to eat something all the time. Yesterday I ate all day!! I'm not very confident that I will get a BFP this month though as we havent really BD'ed very much.
Hey countrymum... I think I O'd on eiether Saturday or Sunday... I hope I did because that's when we did all the BD... Had EWCM then and some cramping on sunday! Still early days for me though. I've got 25 internet cheapies at home so can't wait to test!!
Eating all the time and nasuea is a good sign for a BFP!!!
How is everybody else on this hot day? I'm just sitting at work!! Lucky me... not

mrskb, that sounds exactly what i had about 11 days ago when i ovulated... mild cramping that lasted 2-3 days and sharp little twinge pains, very mild, but something i could feel. its very strange isnt it, ive never felt anything during ovulation before. my breasts are very sensitive too even to sleep on, and feel heavier. a couple of weeks to wait for you... hope it goes well! i test on the weekend :yelclap: trying not to get my hopes up too high though - only our first month of TTC.
we have to realise that when you get your period after you've had 2 week of pregnancy symptoms, we may well have fallen pregnant but the baby didn't manage to implant properly, so just comes out with a period un-noticed. its confusing but a possibility that thats what happens sometimes.

Hi everyone i am new here!
I am 24 and my Husband is 27 and we are going to start trying in August. I feel sometimes no one understands even my sister who has a 7 month old. She just looks at me with a blank face and has told me before that she doesn't think i could handle being a mum and i would find it hard. Hubby and i have been together for over 8 years and we bought a house and we feel we are ready for it. Sometimes i think i get too excited! is that possible? LOL Even though we are not trying yet i can understand about family and friends not being supporting.

I'm sorry I've been away for a while. The Christams period is still going for me at work, so I been busy. But I missed the whole baby name topic!!
I have my names picked.
James Felton Quinn (my husband's middle name, then my middle name which is a tradition in my family)
Adara Elise Quinn (a name from an author we both like, and my other middle name)
I have lists of about 8 names each for boy or girl but I think these are the ones. We'll see what happens when there's an actual baby though.
Bluestar you are very welcome here.
I'm excited to here all these pregnancy-like symptoms going round here. I get the feeling that the pitter-patter of baby footsteps will be heard here soon.
Zeltronica Those charts sound really cool. I don't know if I'd believe them too much, but I'm still tempted.
Ok ladies. I'm still not pregnant, so I'm hitting the OPK's this month, and I'm going to go nana:smiliedance: doing them. I WILL BE PREGNANT THIS MONTH. Don't you kve the positive thinking! lol.
Oh! countrymumtobe I've just realised that you and I started trying on pretty much the same day. That's pretty cool.

Good Morning!!
I was sleeping ok until we had a power black out!! It was unbearably hot in our bedroom for a few hours until the power came back on. Bracing myself for another day in the heat.
I'm really feeling for all those girls who are pregnant at the moment. It must be awfully uncomfortable in the heat. My mum was 8 1/2 months pregnant with me back around the time of Ash Wednesday. She said it's the worst she has ever felt in her whole life!!!
I hope that someone from our group gets a BFP this month. We have a few symptoms so fingers crossed! I'm not testing until early next week - that's if AF stays away that long. AF is due on the 1st but I am gonna try and hold out until the 4th.

Let's hope so mrskb. When are u testing?
I think I will test on Sunday. That is when AF is due so I will try and hold out until then. I am having a lot of symptoms but I really didnt think we would have much of a chance this month so not sure if I am just imagining it or not. Maybe the heat is just getting to me. I am so nauseous it's becoming ridiculous and the only way I can feel better is to keep eating. If I am pregnant and this continues I will be massive after 9 months!!
Who else is testing soon?

I have put my testing date down as 11th of Feb, am really a bit unsure as things are a bit out of whack since my m/c, so we'll see. :fingerscrossed:
I am so tired, find it hard to get a good nights sleep in the heat, we do have air con but it doesn't seem to be doing much, think it may need a service.

Im doing ok. It was really strange. I woke up in a pool of blood. I have had a m/c before about 2 1/2 years ago so I kinda knew that is what happened. I didn't know I was pregnant at all until the dr sent me for blood tests to see what my levels were. I had a lot of trouble over xmas after going off the pill, 3 weeks of bleeding to be exact. After that I never really had a normal period so we are unsure as to how far I could've been. Went for u/s which showed no retained products of conception and had another blood test 3 days later which showed levels were nearly back to 0. The dr said it could've just been a fertilised egg that didnt implant properly.
Keep me me up to date with how you go. Don't forget that sometimes people still have "periods" when they are pregnant. I know my friend did, and didn't find out until she was 6 mths and felt that baby kick.
I hope everyone gets their :bfp: very soon.

I have to go to the city tomorrow for a dress fitting for my cousins wedding (hopefully this will be the 4th & final fitting!!) and then have to visit my other cousin and pick up some baby stuff. They are renovating so are getting rid of a lot of their old stuff. They arent planning on any more children (they already have 2 beautiful girls) so are giving me everything they dont want. I'm not sure how much of it I will actually use (i want to buy my own pram and stuff) but i'm sure some of it will come in handy. Thanks so much girls - DH is so excited. He thought I was joking until i showed him the test!!
He has already called his mum to tell her and now I'm contemplating telling my parents. It's so stupid, I'm an adult and married yet I'm still nervous about telling them!! I guess I'm worried that they wont be happy about it or something.
Also I have just been to the doctor and he has left me a bit confused. He didnt do another test or anything and then I left thinking that maybe I have imagined the whole thing and it's not real. He just congratulated me and sent me for a blood test to check rubella levels, blood groups etc. I was sort of hoping that he would do a test and confirm it so then I know i'm not imagining it!!
I feel the same regarding telling parents!! They don't know we are trying, and I just feel like they would be dissapointed in me, even though I am married and have a great job and own a house! I think it's also because I live on the other side of the world to them, I just don't want to make them upset knowing they will be so far away from their future grandchild

doctors are confusing anyway  i know doctors here tend to tell their clients the a positive HPT is positive and they dont need to confirm it.. basically its almost impossible to have a false positive.. well thats what they say anyway lol

hi girls, wow, it has been super quiet in here today.
well i awoke this morning to AF :no::no::no:
I couldn't believe it! oh well hopefully next month will be better for us.
hope your all having a good day
see ya
Sorry to hear that Spludgie - lots of :babydust2: for next month
Hey Gals
I would luv to join this thread. I'm 23 and this is my first month of ttc!! I knew this would be a very exciting time but was oblivious to how emotional it would be, it has consumed my mind.
This tww has been crazy, I have achieved nothing at work and constantly find myself googling anything to do with pregnancy and wondering if the smallest little things could be a sign.
I thought I O'd on the 15th so I am 18DPO today, however I POAS twice on Saturday and on Sunday and got 3 BFN!!! but still no AF???
I'm a bit confused??
Nic255 you have given me hope after reading you got BFN 5 days after AF was due and you were actually UTD.
I have had sore boobs since about 7DPO and I think they are fuller, but I'm scared I'm imagining things. I've also had vivid dreams and a strange metalic taste in my mouth, everything is telling me I'm pregnant except the HPT!
I've been on the pill for 8 years and only been off for 3 months so I don't really know how long my cycles are. I didn't test this morning as I was avoiding dissapointment but still no AF yet. I will def be testing tomorrow morning. Wish me luck
(I'm thinking how silly I was and how many HPT I wasted testing from 9DPO, despite what I promised myslef, I have no will power and couldn't help myself)

hi everyone
im having no luck with :bfp: still.
last month i had a pap smear and bled for about a day after. I was due for AF on the 30th of Jan but AF came 23rd (a week early) then tonight only 2 weeks since last AF she came again so im really confused at the moment.
i think the pap smear has stuffed my cycle up which is really annoying :hissy:
anyway sorry i hope everyone gets :bfp: this month including me lol. :fingerscrossed:

Hey everyone
I am just wondering if anyone can recommend a good ovulation tester. I am currently using the Maybe Baby (saliva tester) but I don't think it is working. Also does anyone have any ideas on how long it can take for your cycle to return to normal after being on the pill (have been off it now since beginning dec)
Good luck to everyone who is testing this months. Hope you all get the :bfp: that you have been waiting for.

Hi Everyone,
just a quick update as i haven't been on this thread for a while.
AF finished today :smiliedance: so we are on our 3rd month of TTC and i'm feeling really positive about this month.
I bought a heap of OPK and HPT from ebay for the first time to see if that will help us catch my lil eggie.
I worked out that i should be O'ing round about the 16th so lots of BDing is in order and DP will be loving that.
Good luck to everyone this month and hope we get our :bfp:
Sending you all lots and lots of :wizard: :babydust2:

Hi Girls :)
So I have a question to ask, and I will apologise in advance if it is TMI.
I have had a lot of EWCM the last two days, but I am only CD7, had anyone ever had this? and what could it mean?
Thanks, and sorry for the silly question :)

Hi Girls!
How is everyone?
Just got back yesterday from the supposed week away to meet our first niece or nephew (due 2 weeks ago now) but SIL is still very much so pregnant and will be induced on sunday - looks like the bub will be born on it's uncles birthday (DF)
Will have to settle on pictures.
Well AF arrived for me today woohoo!! :smiliedance:
Wouldn't normally be so excited but after this month not ovulating and having the bugger of a folly turn into a hemorrhagic cyst I am looking forward to going for gold this month.
Oh and ***congratulations!!!*** to Countrymum!!! woohoo :smiliedance::smiliedance:
:D
how positively exciting!
So who's testing and when?
Hi all! Page 63??? Wow I sure am late to this party!!
I just turned 25 at the end of 08 and my DH is turning 29 in March. We'd both really like to start a family before he's 30. I stopped taking the pill in Nov 08 but used protection til New Year. We started 'trying' Jan 09, so Feb is our second cycle.
DH's mother is desperate for another granchild - his parents really want a granddaughter, as they have 3 sons and one grandson.
My mother however already has 9 granchildren and doesn't want us to rush into it. She wants me to settle into my career first (I spent 6 years at uni, supporting myself mind you, she wants me to climb the legal ladder til I'm 32 - as though its her body and her marriage we're talking about!). Its gotten to the point that she gets really angry when we talk about having children and she's asked my friends when I'm not around to try to talk me out of it!! :banghead:
A few decades ago it would be "unnatural" for me not to have had children by now! My own mother started "trying" with her fiance (ex-hubby) when she was 15 because she thought he'd be sent off to war.

Hi Chaton
Argh I know the 'climb the career ladder thing' but i've jumped off the ladder, in my profession I would have had to have kids much, much later and I think bugger that.
I want to get things started before I turn 25 this year, I'll do career when the kids go to school.. plenty of time to do both that way, and doing career first just wouldn't work for me, I don't want to be a 40 year old with toddlers (not that there is anything wrong with that!- just not for me!)
love the gir avatar btw :D

morning all,
well, what a devastating weekend we have had here in Melbourne with all the fires, a girl i work with lost their house and everything in it! its insane, to think that you can lose your house to the bush fires when you live in the suburbs, i feel so terrible for them, and i know there are so many in the same boat, its terrible, while on the other side of the country there is extreme flooding!!!
Well, i dont think i did ovulate early, as the OPK was - but i still cant understand all the EWCM, hmmm.... our bodies are such a mystery sometime.
Hope you all have a good day :)

I am going to the docs today for my first antenatal appointment. I'm really nervous and really excited as well.
We are in SA so lucky that we are well away from the fire zone. It's so awful. A friend of mine lost their home to fire last year and that was devastating enough - I can't imagine what it is like to lose a whole town.
Anyway take care of yourself and hope you get your :bfp: very soon!

Hi all, I decided to reappear lol! Nothing much been happening lately, although I'm in the same boat as a few people, AF finished for me yesterday, and also feeling hopeful this month:fingerscrossed:
Here in country SA it's great to finally have had a few days of cooler weather. It got to 48 in my town on Saturday, and quite frankly I'd had enough. But I guess I really shouldn't complain about that when so many have lost their homes and lives in the Vic fires.

Hi guys,
Last month was our first month TTC without doing any testing and got a :bfn:
I have been testing with OPK’s every day since CD8 and it’s now CD17 and just got a +ve so I’m Oing a lot later than I thought.
AF is due on the 24th and is always on time pretty much to the hour.
I’m also a little worried about having quite a short luteal phase….. has anyone gotten a BFP in such a short time?
We’ve been BDing every day since CD9 so hopefully this month is the month :fingerscrossed:
Goodluck to everyone.

13-02-2009, 14:12
Spludgie - did you figure out why you got EWCM so early? Have you ovulated yet?
I ask because I have been charting the last 2 months, and notice EWCM for 1 day about 5-6 days before I ovulate!!! Weird ha. I don't know whether to be concerned or not. The days after EWCM and before ovulation are watery, or patches of creamy - sometimes stretchy, but not as much as EWCM
I am hoping it doesn't interfere with the sperm reaching the egg...
What do you girls think?
babybells
13-02-2009, 14:16
We have been BDing every day for a week.. poor DH, he is buggered! lol
I'd say from a scientific reasoning that YES it would interfere with the sperm reaching your egg as the mucous around ovulation time would be thicker and harder for the sperm to swim through. Its not impossible to get pregnant, just perhaps a little less likely.
It has been also shown that you would be more likely to have a girl if you did fall pregnant. Because female sperm (carrying the X chromosone) are stronger but slower, and able to swim better through unfavourable mucous. Male sperm are weaker but faster, and often die trying to swim through unfavourable mucous.
That said, your most fertile window should start between 1 and 3 days before ovulation and depending on what your mucous is like around that time it might be easier to get pregnant in those few days than closer to ovulation.
Also there is research to say that it is better to let your poor partner have a rest and BD only every second day to keep sperm at its prime. Any shorter and he hasn't regenerated enough, and any longer doesn't regenerate more - the old sperm dies and the new sperm replaces it. I don't follow the every second day rule myself - we BD when the mood takes us! Not scientific but much more romantic :valentine:

Thanks Chaton
It's really hard because I ovulate at different times every month. I've had tests and everything seems to be fine. I ovulate on day 17, or 26, or 22... it changes and is very annoying. I guess I don't want to miss my chance so we have been BDing everyday.. hopefully I will ovulate soon, on day 19 today.
Thanks Chaton

in relation to Chaton's comment, I learnt from somewhere that the EWCM is actually more receptible to sperm, as it is a similar consistency to semen, and assists in carrying the sperm to the egg. The dryer, less stretchy mucous is more acidic and not as receptible to sperm, which is why it's the EWCM we get closer to ovulation that helps us to get pregnant. There is a difference between the male and female sperm, but it is not in their ability to survive in different types of mucous, but rather just that female sperm move more slowly and live longer than male sperm, which move quickly and don't have such a long life span. This is to do with the chromosomal difference, which causes them to use their energy differently.
Also, it is perfectly normal for women to have EWCM more times than just at ovulation. This is perfectly normal, although some women only have EWCM at ovulation. However, this mucous only indicates fertility when it is accompanied by other signs that point to ovulation, such as the temperature rise following ovulation.
Oh, and some women experience watery CM which is also considered fertile (some women never experience watery CM at all).
:wave:Hope this helps

Yep - this is kind of what I meant in there but perhaps I didn't explain it well!
I was looking into this not long ago because I would dearly love to have a girl, which involved avoiding intercourse at the peak fertile period but BDing just before in the hopes that the stronger but slower sperm would fertilise the egg. But after only two cycles I think we'll start BDing in the msot fertile period also because we'd rather get pregnant than spend longer trying in order to influence gender.

I am 22 and DP is 23.
We moved out about 4 months ago and got ourselves a puppy. He is a 5 month old black labrador named Jackson. We love him to death, but we can't compare him to having a baby of our own.
I've got an almost positive OPK, so we will be BDing tonight and keep our fingers crossed :fingerscrossed:

I just went to the toilet and have noticed i am spotting a tiny bit, not much. i am CD 24, 8 DPO and i normally have 30 day cycles and i am usually very regular, i am not due for AF until 03/03. I am trying to not look into it too much but do you think it could be implantation bleeding?
Not TMI :D Well it takes a LOT more to gross me out anyway
Spotting can potentially mean quite a few things, but at 8DPO, that sounds promising, doesn't it? I don't want to get your hopes up either (coz we never really know!), but :fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed: :goodvibes:

Thanks :) I am trying not to think about it at the moment, because, like you said i don't want to get my hopes up :) but i am normally very regular anf get AF at exactly 30 days, so this is unusual :)

Definitely could be, I've been reading about it. If it is dark brown and spotting - hardly anything then I would say YES! however if your AF follows soon after, you'll know its that. They say implantation around DPO 7 or 8 is ideal

I am actually... dare I say.
Excited to test!
I would probably put money that I am either well and truly UTD and in need of booking into the midwifery centre, or well and truly having phantom symptoms and in need of booking myself into a sanity rehabilitation centre!!
5 - 6ish more days until I can test - so Sunday but I might POAS on Saturday.. lol or Friday ???...
Depends on how long I can hold out.
But right now I am so positive its going to be a double line - I can't exactly justify it, but I keep having dreams of being pregnant or this gorgeous little girl with blonde hair and I am peeing more, my nipples hurt and I can't stop eating or I feel iffy.
I also feel so drained, like I need a nanna nap in the afternoon or I feel really nauseated.
Tonight I've got horrible heartburn, well at least I think it is heartburn, i have never, ever had heartburn before - a weird acidic burning/ feeling in my throat/stomach before..?
Well shouldn't be long until you can test either eh spludgie?
oooh.. I wonder if it's going to be a girl and my dreams are right - or if DF needs to have me commited!?
PS SO happy - when I told him, babe I think it's 'on' this month he had this big silly grin..

Ooooh Zeltronica, I hope your intuition is right! Wouldn't that be fab! :flowerz:
My intuition is sh*thouse when it comes to this preggy stuff. I'm usually pretty spot on, but I was becoming pretty convinced I was UTD last month, and whaddya know - hello AF, my old friend. This month I'm forcing myself to believe AF will be here soon, but I find it hard every month (even if we haven't been trying).
Hey AliyahsMum  Welcome! What a gorgeous name you picked for your little girl. Good luck! :babydust2:

Poor AliyahsMum, left with no answer! Haha. I've been working hard all day
Welllllll.... hubby & I have been fully off contraception since Oct '08 or so, but only *really* tried one or two months. We're taking it easy now as I've decided to lose some weight. Still not using contraception tho, so who knows.
ATM, I'm waiting for AF to say hello. I've got some cramping & dizziness coming on, so I think I'll see her in the next couple of days (if not tomorrow). Boooooo!! :p
:babydust2: babydust all round! :babydust2:
Hey everybody how are you?? Preggy... awesome losing 11 kgs!! I am on a bit of a gym kick at the moment!!
I am so frustrated with not being pregnant!!! It's been 6 months!!! ARGH

Hi Guys....
Am hoping you will welcome me back! I was here until Jan when I got my BFP... Unfortunately our bub didnt make it and we are back at the beginning...
We are booked into a specialist on March 16th, as this is our second miscarriage in 6 months...
Am hoping we will be back on deck soon (have to wait for AF to arrive before starting again and want to check it out with the specialist) and back into that whirlwind of TTC
Hope you are all doing okay!

Welcome back Riss
God your dress was gorgeous!
Well ladies, cross your fingers for me.
Tomorrow FF predicts period is due, so will be testing tomorrow unless, of course AF does arrive.
It will be nice to know either way before I'm off to cairns next friday to stay on east bedarra for a week with DF.
I will either be celebrating sober and restricted food style, or I will console myself with all the naughty stuff.
Bit worried about all the dengue talk happening in cairns though:eek:
P.S I noticed uh, I think was it lotsahugs thread or you spludgie? 'bout trying in march and the christmas bubba thing?
Are we all going for gold in march?
I haven't decided if we will skip over and try again april.. in some ways I think bugger it.. in others.. well I think I am too impatient to skip a month?
Oh and last bit - has anyone had a squiz at zis'?
http://lunarconception.com/Calculator.aspx
OK laugh at the threads resident weirdo all you want.. but I found it interesting, at least it's a very interesting concept ovulating spontaniously with certain times compared to your time of birth?
Oh and the prediction of the boy or girl etc hmm.. worth while to try 24 hours before the dates you get anyway - can't hurt :D
The WEIRD thing is, for me, it is right around my normal 0 time each month anyway?
I guess anyone with a 28 day cycle follows the moon exactly anyway.
After a lovely day at the hospital following some bleeding and pain issues I tested nagative on the urine test but positive on the blood test. But it was low, so it means its either increasing (pregnant) or decreasing (miscarrying).
I go back Monday for another BT and ultrasound. Hoping for good news!!!
Hi can i join in?
I am 23 but ttc #2
Af just came to visit after out 3rd month trying which as you know is just devastating! I didn't do a very good job temping this month though, so am going to give it my all next month.
Speaking of which what do you all think about a christmas baby? Will everyone keep trying next month or give it a break? I am a bit undecided.
I would hate it if my birthday was at christmas time as i would feel a bit second best but i don't want to stop trying.....

I'm a Christmas baby (6:40am on Christmas Day '83 ) and its not all bad. I've seen on this forum and another I'm on that a lot of ladiesare "skipping" March so as to avoid a Christmas Day baby. I think thats ridiculous!
For one, a baby "due" Christmas might come early, or a little late. Its one day - chances are the bub WON'T come Christmas. For that matter, its possible that couples skipping March could have a January baby arrive a couple of weeks early on Christmas. Its not something to stress about IMO.
I'm someone who's grown up in a large family and we didn't really do birthdays regardless of date. Yeah, my birthday gets overlooked but I'd rather take a backseat - I get uncomfortable when all the attention is on me.
When we were kids my brother (who is 23rd December '84) and I would celebrate our "half" birthdays in June with all our kiddy friends (most of whom would travel with family over Christmas).
At the end of the day I think if you're the kind of mum who is worrying about how it might affect your baby to be born on Christmas Day then you're the kind of mum to give your baby love and attention regardless of what day its born.
Thats my (long) 2c worth!
Btw LOVE the new acatar, Zeltronica.
