Hi,

I'm daft as all can be. I just can't seem to figure out how to send you a Pm (I don't visit the site all that regularly)...

I recently had a family who was considering holding their naming ceremony at the botanical gardens at Mt Cootha, but they decided against it because it was too expensive.

Depending where you live there are other places you can hold the ceremony. Some local parks are really nice (and they have play equipment for the older kids who might be there), Northpine Country park is lovely, or at home.

I personally didn't ring the gardens, and maybe it depends on who answers the phone as to whether they charge for a naming ceremony... but do check it out.

All the best for your ceremony,

Leanne

Hi,

We used a civil celebrant for our wedding and she does naming ceremonies. She is based way on the south side, near Ipswich. She was lovely and very professional.

Her name is Susan Horne - she's listed in the yellow pages, or at least she was 4 years ago.

We got married in the City Botanic Gardens - it costs over $100 to book an area. You don't have to book an area, but it does mean if someone is already using the space you wanted, you have to find somewhere else in the park.

If you choose to book an area, there are over half a dozen spots you can choose to from to hold your ceremony, and the council will put up a notice saying you are going to use that space on a particular day at a particular time.

Hi guys!

I just booked a celebrant for my daughter's naming ceremony. His name is Trevor Cook (he's in Brisbane), and he charges $125. He sent a sample of the ceremony to us and it sounds great, and he is happy for us to adapt it to suit. I just have to type it up and email it to him!! I haven't actually met him (so he could look like a vagabond!!!) but he sounded really nice on the phone... Our ceremony is on 31 July, so I'll keep you posted...
A quick question - We are having an afternoon tea after the ceremony, which will be in our backyard - do we need to provide alcohol as well as the usual tea and coffee? What do you think?

Thanks!
