View Full Version : 1st b'day party venues?
Hi everyone,
It's my little mans 1st b'day in August and we wanted to do something special as his christening was a quiet affair. Wondering what everybody else has done? I would prefer to go somewhere rather than have it at home..there will be about 10 other babies with parents. I've looked on the internet and apart from Lollipops Playland, there's not much else (and they only cater for older kids...not babies). I'm in Sydney by the way.
Look forward to your feedback

It depends on where abouts in Sydney you are?
I am looking into playcentres at the moment too for my ds's 2nd B'day.
Theres a few listed on the BH directory and some have websites which is handy.
Theres on in Bondi Junction westfields called Play shop which caters for little ones (however it is pricey) check it out at www.playshop.com.au
Theres one in Caringbah Im checking out called Amigos cafe and play centre which is cheaper and seems good.
I would also check out Sydneys child magazine as the may issue is devoted to party stuff with heaps of info about party venues etc
Good luck with the hunt:smiliedance:

We had my eldests sons 3rd birthday at The fun house at Mortdale (near Hurstville) We have been going there since he was 1 They have a fenced off toddler area so it is safe from the bigger kids. There is a link in BH under playcentres NSW and they are very reasonable in price as well

From the Bubhub directory: Playcentres in NSW (http://www.bubhub.com.au/activitiesplaycentresnsw.shtml) Not all of these have websites.
If the babies are very young, still mostly in arms, then a playcentre may not offer much attraction & kid friendly restaurant might be better. Adults can all have a nice meal and babies crying won't be a problem. Kid Friendly Restaurants (http://www.bubhub.com.au/activitiesrestaurants.shtml)
My other idea would be to have it at home (or a kid friendly venue where you can spread playmats on the floor) and bring in someone from a group like Kindermusic or Gymbaroo to run through a mini program with the babies & mums. Might be educational for the dads too.
Thank you so much for your suggestions!! I have just called a few places on the BH website (thanks Martha) and await their pricing!! I live near Castle Hill - not much out this way. Have thought about having an outdoor party at Bicentennial Park at Homebush but am worried about the weather....knowing my luck, it'll rain cats & dogs only on that day!!!
Thanks again girls!!

Have you checked out Playdays at Gladesville?
I first took my DD there when she really got into crawling and she had the best time.
There is not a lot of "equipment" or formal play areas just a lot of space (3 indoor cricket pitches) and heaps of soft foam blocks, 2 jumping castles, a swing set and some cubbies, and heaps of pedal cars.
It only caters for up to 5 years old, so mainly smaller kids.
I think they do parties, but perhaps check them out first to see if it is "festive" enough. iykwim.
Good luck with the party!

There is a party place situated in Earlwood(inner west) which caters for kids 0-8 years. It has a sectioned off area for bubs who can crawl around and play with soft equipment whilst the older kids climb and run amok on larger, foam equipment. It is posted in the back pages of "Sydney Child " magazine. It is roughly 6 dollars for kids a certain age and provides them with food/drinks and then it gets dearer for children who are slightly older. You can also go there just to let kids have a play, so your child may have to share venue with other children but thats part of the fun. It's called Club Kids Playhouse and Cafe. You can call them on 9558 8480 . Hope this helps.:D
