I would never birth there again. They were really understaffed, there was very little communication from dr to dr-dr to nurses-nurses to us, they kept forgetting my meds, they booked me in for an induction without discussing it with me at all-I found out about my scheduled induction when a nurse said "so are you excited about your induction tommorrow?" my what??????

I had a dr tell me that I was going to end up with an emergency ceaser and I should have consented to being induced (I asked for a week to have the chance to go into labour provided bubs was healthy-which she was) when I was told-which was completely untrue and I had an induction and VB a week later as planned.

I could go on but I wont. Individuals have good and bad experiences there and everywhere else. My experience was poor-yours might be very good:)

I had the opposite - a great experience and I felt very cared for and understood. So yeah, I agree with the post above that its probably going to be a lot of posts either way as its very individual.

I did have a dream pg so they didn't need to do anything out of the ordinary for me. My appointments were them just checking heartbeats and having a quick feel around my belly. They were always very attentively asking me how I was feeling (mentally) and making sure that I was informed about what would happen next.

I loved them and make sure to drop in random cakes for the midwives and admin staff a few times a year to say thanks.

Good luck on your ttc journey :D

i liked it there, i went public and found the midwives very helpfull though to be fair i had a broken arm at the same time but they were all lovely. the pain team were great and really looked after me. i had a ceaser so would probably be a bit different to you but all was good.

on the other hand if you ever break your arm....NEVER go there. thanks to them i nearly lost my arm after developing a bone infection and them repeatedly telling me it was a 'muscle' growing and ignoring it.

hope all goes well for you xx

I went to the RBWH, loved it and had a great experience both times. Well, actually DD's labour was horrendous, 21 hours and then off to theatre to be repaired, but all the staff were great. The birthing rooms both times were quite fine - nice big bathrooms, but it does bug me you're not allowed to use the bath. I haven't seen the birth centre (they have an all natural kind of section, with bigger rooms apparantly and it's quite different, but both times I've just gone in the regular rooms as they get booked out very early on)
With DD I stayed in 4 days, shared a room with a couple of people during that time, which I was quite happy about and am still friends with and with DS we went home the same day so they let us just stay in the same room I had him (it had a nice corner with couches etc) while we waited the obligitory time for observation etc.
No doubt you can unfortunately have a bad experience in the best of places, but I had no compaints and am happy to recommend it.

I birthed Cobey there an had a great experience :D

The PRE-birth wasn't too good (not believing I was in labour, wanting to send me home, midwife (Ping) in the obs clinic was threatened with a punch in the face if she told me one more time that my contractions weren't painful enough to be real) but once I convinced a midwife on shift change taht I needed birthsuite NOW (and I mean NOW, cobey was born an hour later) it was great. The midwives at the pre-natal clinics were wonderful (I used their midwife group practice) in labour they were great too, no pushing for anything except encouraging me to get off my back, and in the ward they were great too. The food wasn't too bad either :p
