View Full Version : paranoia taking over
ok .. so last night Jack bit me for the first time... and he did it THREE times in a row... despite me stopping the feed each time... oooh it HURT!!! ( I honestly think he is teething again.. he has been quite upset the last two days)
so now I am paranoid... this morning I went to feed him - and I watching him like a hawk.. I was tense- and he must have sensed it because he only fed about 5 minutes each side (usually at LEAST 10) and then sat up and wanted to hop down...
Im scared he is going to end up weaning himself - he is quite scared of upsetting me (if I flinch he actually stops.. and pouts - about to cry)
any tips or tricks other then 'relax' or 'get over it' ???
xx
I became vigilant - I found the biting was at the end of a feed so I took baby off after they had finished their "main feed" and after a few days there was no more biting and I calmed down and baby calmed down.
Don't worry - babies don't wean themselves over biting their mothers - some mothers wean their babies for that reason but bubbas love the boob too much!!

Just relax....Oh...hang on....okay...
Perhaps he only fed a little this morning because his mouth is hurting so much and in a couple of days he'll be back to his happy self.
That's all I got this early in the morning I'm afraid.
Hugs to you both though:hugs:

yeah I remember reading that a few times on bubhub... but Jack has to be different.. this was at the start... which is why I thought that teething might have something to do with it?? (oh .. and the use of the words 'few days' together scares me a little... :o )
I hear you! Andrew has 8 teeth now and every so often ( like every second week or something) he'll start biting again. Well not full on biting, but you know, enough to hurt. I take him off and say 'stop, thats hurting mummy' and then let him back on. If he does it again, I put him on the other side. If he does it there, he's on the floor and feed time is over.
I know what you mean about getting a bit fearful about it...had a moment like that yesterday and i was just coiled up waiting for it to happen....but it didn't, and oh the relief!
I do think that teething affects it. So if Jack is happy to have a shorter feed, I wouldnt' worry about it. It all tends to even out over time.
Don't worry about him weaning over it either - Andrews been teething since 8 months and nothing will make him give up these last 2 feeds! Like some other wise woman said earlier...they love their booby :)
thanks guys ... I should have known that I was in trouble yesterday .. .during both his bottle feeds he CHEWED the teat... despite my attempts to stop him.. so now the same rule applies.. chew the bottle?? on the floor you go ...
I guess I shouldn't worry about his feeding- we saw the GP yesterday and she said that he needs his own line on the chart.. he is the size of a 9 month old.. :D he loves his food...
thanks :hugs: I"m off to find the lansinoh

I find it helps to feed in front of the TV so it distracts me from the fear of the fangs. If I feel my DD start to bite I push her in towards me (firmly) and it must change the shape of the nipple in her mouth and she lets go. It's a bit less terrifying than ripping her off too.... ouch!
