Hi everyone,

As the title suggests, my 9 wk old DD is hardly feeding at all yesterday and today. She only seems to want one side/feed, and even then doesn't empty the breast.

She is still having wet nappies, although no way near as saturated as usual.

Has this happened to anyone before? What did you do?

Thanks for reading.

Do you have a thermometer to check her temperature with? If her nappies aren't as saturated and she isn't feeding as much I suppose she could have a bug of some sort.

DS gets a bit dehydrated if he gets a virus accompanied by a fever.

Thanks LibbyG, I'll check that when she wakes up. She did have her 8 week immunisations on Wednesday, maybe that is contributing?

Hopefully it passes soon... it is really worrying not knowing if she is getting enough.

Good idea to check it out asap, just to make sure. It's quite possible that the immunisations are having an effect, I remember that DS got a lot sleepier after his 2 month (8 week) ones and the 4 month ones, had much longer naps for a couple of days and went to bed earlier too.

And really watch the wet nappy count, dehydration is obviously really dangerous for babies (and toddlers of course, as I've discovered in recent months), so BF as much as possible to keep her fluid levels up.

If you are really concerned a trip to the doctor probably wouldn't hurt, better safe than sorry.

Thanks for your replies LibbyG. DD is feeding a bit better last night and today, whatever it was seems to be resolving itself!

I will keep a close eye on the nappy count though, just to be sure. She is grinning and 'chatting' more today too, so maybe she was just feeling unwell....

I never knew there would be so many things to worry about before I became a Mum .

I hope your DS is feeling better now too.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply!

Good to hear things are improving. My DS is fine now, has gotten over all his sniffles and has been sleeping better too.

Oh good !

Sorry I know I should have replied yesterday but didnt want to start freaking you out unless it was necessary because my scenario was an extreme.

So glad she is feeding better but if her skin 'tents' when you pinch it & she hasnt had anymore than say 2 full disposable or 4 cloth nappies in a day then you should be a little concerned iykwim.

The thing you will also notice is she will become a different baby iykwim. She wont be as active, may sleep more & wont cry tears if she is dehydrated so if this happens take her straight to the ER & its always better to be safe iykwim !

Sadly vax's tend to throw their little bodies out so hopefully all will come good through the week.
