AF overdue today, but negative pregnancy test

:confused: I am a bit confused and also a bit disheartened, because today my period was due and i have not had it yet. I know when i ovulated this month because i had tremendous pain on one side and lots of fertile cervical mucus so the bd'ing was at the 'right' times.

Well, i did a Crystal Clear pregnancy test this afternoon and it came back negative. :( It is a bit strange, because i haven't had any of my normal pre-period symptoms this week coming up to my period day. The only thing that i've felt has been that i've been really tired and pangs of nauseousness here and there. Also, i came off the pill almost 5 months ago and since then my cycle has been around 44 days.

I know that for some people their first day of their missed period still is too early for pregnancy tests to detect hcg and that its best to wait a few days after the missed period to retest.

I guess i just want some reassurance from others out there, who have tested on their missed-period day and got a negative result, but then retested a few days later and got a positive result.

Do you think that this is a common thing?

Any advice is much appreciated.....

Yes, this happened to me. With my first pregnancy I tested on the day AF was due and it was negative. I had AF symptoms so figured I wasn't pg...took me another week and a bit to do another test! Was positive. So this pregnancy I waited until 4 days after my period was due and used first morning urine. If your cycle is a bit longer after going off the pill this might muck up your 'testing day'. I was in that boat with my first pg. I would say if you know when you o'd, test well over 14 days after that. All the best:) I know it's really hard when you test and get a BFN:hugs:...your BFP won't be far away:flowerz:

Sorry to hear your test was negtive but on the bright side still no period :)

All i can say is good luck, I really hope it works out.

Perhaps try in a few days.

I tested saturday just gone and test was negtive, then when I did my ones monday they were positive.

So if you don't get your period keep testing and see what happens.

And if neither shows up I would be going to see your dr.

yes with my first pregnancy i tested the day af was due and neg then i waited about 10 days i believe *i could have tested earlier but i wasnt obsessed first time around* and got a positive. it aint over till AF arrives!

Awww thanks ladies for your reassurances. :)

I still haven't had a period arrive yet....and last night lying in bed, i had such bad cramps and my boobs are feeling fuller, but not sore at all. It so feels like at any point now the period is going to come but still nothing.....

From the comments above, i am definitely not going to rule it out. It aint over until AF arrives!! The instructions of the test said that if the result is negative but you still suspect that you're pregnant, to wait 3 days. So, i might do another one on Monday.

By the way what does the BFN and BFP?

Deking- are you saying that you did a test last Saturday (27th Sept) and it came back negative, but then you did another test on the Monday (29th Sept) and it was positive???

I had a wedding saturday to go to, so tested before that cos i wanted to know if i could have a champagne or 2.

Well the test was negative and I assumed I wasn't pregnant cos our timing didn't seem that good, so i did have a couple of champagnes, but I'm glad I only had 2 for the whole day.

The tests I did on monday were very faint, but when i tried different brand it showed up a bit darker.

I know how you feel, its hard not to be excited, but at the same time you don't want to get your hopes up then be disappointed.

I tested with a crystal preg test with my last pregnancy. I had no idea where I was with my cycle as I'd just had my implanon taking out. I tested 3 weeks after it was removed and got a negative result. 1 week later I tested again but this time I used the first response preg test and I got a positive result. The first response may be able to pick up your preg horomones earlier. So maybe try a different test. Good luck :)

:( ...... my AF arrived this afternoon....so looks like it didn't happen this cycle. Trying to stay positive though. DH and I are both still young and healthy so have plenty of time to keep trying.

It is upsetting but trying to stay strong.

It is hard when you have your hopes up and AF arrives like that. So sorry this month wasn't the month. I hope you get pg really soon.
