Just a quick question for you ladies.

If your mum had trouble conceiving, could you inherit that?

Does anyone know?

I know my mum had trouble after me. Her and my Dad divorced, and she remarried. But she didn't have any more kids, and when she did fall pregnant, she miscarried one and had an eptopic pregnancy with the other one.

I just wondered if I might have trouble conceiving too?

:confused::confused:

According to a gyno I saw, yes. I had endo for years, so does my mum. Disorders such as endo, PCOS etc CAN have strong genetic links.

I dont know, i guess it depends on if there is hereditary things there (PCOS etc)

i know that,

my nana had PCOS (never formally diognosed though) and had probs concieving,

my mum got pregnant just thinking about it,

Iv had trouble concieving (PCOS)

my sister had no trouble falling preg (no pcos) and

my other sister wasnt ttc but wasnt using protection for ages and concieved (PCOS)

My mum fell pregnant with me and my twin bro on the mini pill and breastfeeding my sister. She had no trouble falling pregnant each time she wanted to. Me on the other hand. We went for about 8 months have unprotected sex (but not officially trying) before I fell pregnant with DS. Its now been 3 years that we've been TTC #2.

I think to a degree it can be genetic but I think there are many other factor to take into concideration.

i think if my mums anything to go by, but her issue was being too fertile.

she had 5 children, a smoker all her life, conceived 1 at 38, and twins at 39....

we conceived our first month, so, i maybe there is something in it?
in the smae breath, my sister had alot of trouble conceiving.

I have a freind who has had the same dilemma, her mum had trouble starting their family, and she was the only one they successfully delivered.

Have you tried conceiving yet? I hope that it all goes smoothly:hugs:, and hope that there is no truth to our theory:hugs::goodvibes:

You could be onto something here  as my mum had 2 stillborns and 8 miscarriages and 5 healthy children my second oldest brother was a twin but was lost in uteruo.
I had a molar pregancy in between my two boys so maybe there`s something there ???

Hi!

Yes, I've had blood tests and an ultrasound, and everything looks ok, I'm just a little concerned that my mum had so much trouble that's all :(

my dr reckons no endo can be linked but there's so much they dont know. in my case no cause every female in my family looks at a guy and is utd i on the other had cant even ovulate.
Dont stress before you start stress is no good for ttc no point worrying about something that might not even be an issue :D

Thank you for that advice, I'll try not to worry too much at this stage :)

I have been wondering the same thing myself. One of my siblings had trouble conceiving and so have we. My parents had trouble conceiving and were actually approved to go ahead and adopt when they found out that they were pregnant with my older brother.

We were worried as my parents had trouble conceiving me (I'm the eldest) and my dh's parents had been married for 7 years before they had him (also the eldest), and yet, within 3 months I was pregnant.

So, it can be hereditary, but it doesn't have to be.

I can understand where you're coming from...my Mum had fertility problems. My siblings are adopted, I am the surprise package she had at 39. This was always in the back of my mind. I'm sure my Mum had PCOS (not heard of in the 60's!!!). I guess I always took comfort in my very regular AF's (very unlike my Mum). Is your cycle like your Mum's? Maybe have a chat to her about her symptoms etc. You might find you're nothing like her. I think there can definitely be a hereditary factor...but like all things hereditary, it's not a sure thing! Not everything gets passed on:)

Both my mum and I were told we couldn't have children/would find it very hard to conceive and both of us fell pregnant accidentally in our 30s. So believing doctors and proving them wrong runs in our family.
