View Full Version : Maternity clothing in Perth? Help!!
Hi,
I am looking for a store where I can buy maternity clothing which are not too expensive and not too old fashioned. In Perth. I'm especially looking for belly belts but so far couldn't find any. Anyone a tip?? Please help me before I start to look like a badly dressed pregant whale ;)

Hi
Apart from the usual suspects (ie Kmart, Target, Big W) There is a maternity store in Harbourtown. It's not as cheap as the others, but cheaper than other specialty maternity strores. Maybe give that a go? Also Pumpkin Patch, beleive it or not, has some nice, albeit more expensive, maternity clothes too.
Good Luck on your hunt!!:fingerscrossed:

maternity girl at harbour town has them well they did atleast when i was preg
i got all my maternity clothes from there
i found other shops had really old fashioned and really frumpy clothes but they seemed to have the nicest range ( well i found they did anyway)
Vote another one for Maternity Girl at Harbourtown. Right across from that store is the outlet for Pumpkin Patch. No belly belts at either place, but most of my maternity wardrobe is from these two stores (PP for first pregnancy as I was in Darwin and there's only one other store which didn't take my fancy), and Maternity girl for this one, as I didn't have any winter clothes. I haven't got into belly belts - instead I love the rouched singlets, which you can put a tie top over the top of (find these at Maternity Girl).
(I have some clothes from Mother and Me, but this shop is usually more expensive. Otherwise there is a second hand shop in Nedlands - will have to check out the name if you're interested - I got some good jeans, and a cheap Liz Davenport Maternity suit there).

There is also a 2nd hand shop in Claremont, called Boomerang (http://www.boomerangrecycled.com.au/maternity_wear_hire.htm). It has 2nd hand maternity wear as well as kids clothing and equipment. It's not in the Claremont Village shops but on Davies Rd.
I tended towards the maternity shops in Subiaco. There are (were?) several within a block or two of each other.

Oops - think this might have been the one I thought was in Nedlands...
Ripe is one of the ones in Subi - seen it advertised, but never been there.
Thank you girls. I will check those out. And I already thought I have to run along with tent-dresses 'cause I could't find anything nice. :yelclap: :yelclap:
I got a belly band in mother and me, but also i noticed that they are sold quite a lot on ebay
I bought belly belf from Baby on a Budget in O'Connor. I also saw them at Bra's' N'Things but I think they were a bit more expensive there. I would have thought any baby shop sells them.
As to the maternity wear, I found that a complete disaster in Perth. The place in Harbourtown sells exactly the same labels as Mother and Me. I found the quality very poor for the price you pay. I paid $90 for a pair of pants and in a couple of days they stretched and started looking like potatoe sags. I've given up looking for something nice and smart and reasonably inexpensive.
I've heard there are a few boutiques in Subi but they all are quite expensive.

wish I'd known about Maternity girl...too late now!! and the fact there was a Patch outlet in Perth...oh well next time round :D Ive always said that I think Kmart, Big W and the targets we have here must think we have frontal labotomies when we get pregnant and want to look like dags! I was really dissapointed with all these stores...and even the Target in Cannington which sposed to be the one for Maternity and Baby offered very little...I have lived in Pumpkin Patch (they do great sales) and Next Maternity and other Uk stuff brought over by my sis in February...I cannot afford the boutiques where I know there are stunning outfits but I on the otherhand dont want to look like a heffer with no style! Good luck at Harbourtown sounds like that the only option us poorer mummies to be have in Perth...

Ladies... stop looking... after much looking and dissapointment i have found the perfect place and it's called "Room for Two Maternity" in Subiaco. Dont let Subiaco put you off a prices are reasonable and they have so much. It's a lovely little shop which is run by the owner who is so helpful. Clothes to fit any age, shape & size. Hope this helps, trust me - it's a great little shop and you will be happy you went :)

I found the best place to get belly belts is from Big W, in the bra section. Thay are bonds and the come in pack of 2. All black, white or black and white only about $20.00. I found them great as I have not put on any weight during this pregnancy I am able to wear my jeans under my belly and the belt works great.
Hope this helps.
