Where does baby sleep during day and what time to bed at night?

Hi all.

On a normal day (when you're at home rather than out and about) where does your baby have his/her daytime sleeps? Do you put baby in their basinette or cot in their room (or your room) or do they sleep in the living area?

Also, what time do you put your babies down for the night in the place the will spend the night? Is this a regular time or just when you go to bed?

does this sleeping routine seem to work well for you?

Umm well my bub wasn't born at that time.. But all my bubs have slept in bed with me and have slept very well. :yes:

Mine go to bed around 7, 7:30 and I don't go to bed until I am ready to.

It works. :o

DD2 doesn't sleep during the day :laughing: But when she does decide to have her 'naps' (usually 30-40 minutes at a time) she is in her bassinette in her room.

She sleeps in there at night too - she usually goes down between 6pm and 7pm although it can vary at this stage (only 5 weeks), and she wakes twice during the night, and then up between 6am and 7am.

She was in the bassinette in our room until earlier this week. I found she stirred and woke alot more often due to the other kids coming into our room all hours of the night.

Other and between 7-8... Are the only options cot or bassinette? :confused:

Naps mostly in her cot in my room. Now a days she doesn't nap anymore. Bed time usually at 9pm. It used to be earlier but I found that as she was getting older she was waking up too early (5-6am) even before I was ready to get up to go to work! So 9pm bedtime means she is likely to wake up anywhere between 7-8am.

My DS sleeps in his rocker in the lounge. Because he is fairly young I like to have him close by and to try and have him around noise so he knows its day time. When hes older and sleeps less during the day I will proberably put him in his room.
He goes to bed when we do which is around 11pm. Which like I said before will propberably change when hes older.

DD goes to bed at 7pm every night (sometimes earlier when i want a bit of a break lol) She slept in her basinette in out room for a couple of months mainly because we didn't have enough room. THen she had her own room in her basinette for about a month. Then her cot. She doesn't have a proper nap routine. She just naps when she gets tired (always in her cot but if we are out she will fall asleep in her pram). She usually sleeps until about 9am so this seems to work for us. I think what also helps is her bad time has always been 7pm so that is when she gets tired.

DSD is 3yo and goes to bed at 8pm also sleeps til about 9am and doesn't have any naps during the day.

My DS doesnt like to sleep during the day, fights like theres no tomorrow. So when i eventually get him to sleep he generally sleeps in the lounge room either in his rocker or on the lounge.

As for night he sleeps in a bassinette in our room but doesnt like to go down till around 11pm.

DD2 is 10 weeks now and sleeps in a cradle in our with us.
Lately she has been unsettled during the day and only sleeping in her bouncer or pram.

She has a bath and is bed at 5.30pm, has another feed at midnight and then awake around 6am.

Jessica has been sleeping on the floor in the lounge during the day (she only cat naps usually at 12.30pm and 3.30pm) But today i have put her down in her cot for the first time - seems to be working well and might do this from now on.

Night she is usually tired and decides its bed time about 7.30pm and she sleeps in her bassinet in her room. (at 6 weeks she kept me awake too much with all her little noises so i had to move her into her own room)

Bridie has slept in her own room from day one...I couldn't even sleep with her in my room in the hospital, I was awake whenever she made even a little grunt! She has a tetra bed which is in her cot. She usually has about 3 big sleeps throughout the day which are in her cot or the pram or sling if we're out.

She goes to bed about an hour or so after her late afternoon/evening feed, which may be 5pm, 6pm, 7pm or even 8pm, she usually sleeps really well and I give her a sleepy feed at 9pm (obviously not if her last feed was at 8pm!) or later (but not later than midnight). She usually sleeps from about 9pm thru til 6am...she's usually awake at 6am on the dot! She feeds 3-4 hourly during the day, so her last feed depends on how often she's fed through the day. I hope this all makes sense!

DS sleeps in his cot (in our room) for his naps and also for sleeping at night, which is usually just before 7pm.

Surprisingly, I have been fine with him sleeping in our room so we have delayed moving him to his own room probably until he is 4mo or so.

When my DD was a baby, I moved her into her own room at 6 weeks because like Tracey and Mel, I couldn't sleep with all the noises.

Zaydn sleeps in either his swing or sling during the day except for his sleep around 2pm. This is when I have a nap too so we sleep in our bed together.
Z sleeps in our bed at night.

He goes to bed around 9pm-10pm.

This works well for us :)

J is 18 days old and we have a bassinet but he doesn't like it much. He sleeps in the rocker mostly. At night he sleeps with us.

DS3 sleeps either on the floor in the lounge room for the bouncer in the lounge room during the day. At night he is asleep by about 10 pm and sleeps right through till 5.30 in his cot.

DS sleeps in his own room day and night in a cot. And he is in bed every night by 7pm. He doesnt cope with any later......

DS sleeps in his bassinette in our room all the time, he used to sleep in his bouncer and his hammock but he is stubborn atm and refuses to.

DS2 sleep during the day either in the sling (85% of the time) or in the bouncer beside me, he wont sleep during the day unless he is upright.
