:hair: Hi everyone! This is my first post. I am 34 years old and have been addicted to marijuana and cigarettes for over half of my life...
I am now 12 weeks pregnant with my first child and am desperately trying to break my addiction.
I always thought that getting pregnant would be the motivation I'd need to stop smoking. In fact, I'd convinced myself of it. Now that I am, I am absolutely disgusted with myself that I am unable to "shotput" it out of my life. I'm hating myself.
I do not want to continue smoking, and I do not want to bring my child up in that environment. I was not brought up in that environment, I found dope myself, however my partner was, and I hate how "normal" he considers it. Having said that, he also has the desire to stop, although I'm sure it will be harder for him...
So, this morning I'm off to the hypnotherapist (who happens to also be a GP). She tells me that no everyone can be hypnotised, so I'm really hoping it works.
Has anyone had any experience with this? I don't know where to go from here if it doesn't work. Does anyone have any advice for me?
Much appreciated, Kel.

Just a bit of an update...
The GP Hypnotherapist I went to advised me that, due to my past psychiatric history, I was not a case she could deal with. She referred me to a Clinical Psychologist that does hypnotherapy.
I am going to my 5th appointment with him today (which have been spread over 1 week) and I am smoke and dope free!!!
I must admit, I have had 2 slip ups, but both only involved 1 bong... and no cigarettes at all!
Having said that, I have also suffered quite significant withdrawal symptoms - not totally unexpected after 20 years of continuous smoking! It has taken all my effort to stay away from any medication for this, as there is some risk to my baby. It was still prescribed to me, however I didn't use it! I did attend 2 Group Therapy Classes last week, which was extremely helpful to me.
And after only 1 week, I do feel like I'm on the other side of my addiction. I know I still have a long way to go, and I still have to fight cravings, but I'm going to make it!
I've nearly ripped my partner apart (he is still smoking) and spent over $700.00 in the process, but I'm going to succeed!!!
Woohoo!!! :yelclap:

Congrats on your progress. You are doing an amazing thing for your child. My SIL smoke pot all through her pregnancy and her child has some very serious issues due to it

:yelclap: well done. You have taken a huge step, not just for your baby, but for you. Marijuana can be far more addictive than some people think. It may have cost $700, but imagine what you are going to save on ciggies and pot for the rest of your life - thousands of dollars. I see it as an investment in your health and wellbeing.
Good on you :D

the monetary cost is nothing if it helps your baby's health
congratulations on doing your best to quit

good for you! keep up the good work. just think too of all the money you used to spend on cigarettes - you will save a lot more than $700.

I still can't believe I've actually done it!!!:yelclap:
And I don't even think about it anymore. I am amazed. I never thought it would be possible.
I recommend hypno to anyone contemplating it. Not that I think my hypnotherapist is the best around, but obviously he was good enough!!!
Yay!!! :smiliedance:
