I can't actually believe this happened...I was explaining to a colleague that I only had 5 weeks left of work and that I'd finally decided to book in for an elective c/s and she actually called me a wimp

I was nearly going to remind her of my horror story birth last time but she was too busy telling me I also looked really tired:mad:

I think I'm too shocked to be remotely upset about it and I don't really care about her opinion of my decisions because it's actually farm more complex than just copping out. But still - I didn't realise people could be so rude!

I'm a wimp.

I was so scared of needles and operations that I went 100% natural. :o

That is true.. It was partly out of fear of the alternative.

Ask her how she would like someone cutting into HER abdomen. She is more than welcome to give it a go and tell you if she thinks it is EASY.

What a rude woman!!!

Pffft to her... you didn't need to validate yourself by giving an explanation.

Good luck on the birth of your baby!!! :flowerz:

Threepigs, you've got to do what feels right for you. you've obviously put a lot of thought into your decision and as long as you're comfortable with it, it's none of anyone's business. I have supported some women through elective CS after a traumatic vaginal birth and they have found it to be a very healing experience. I hope it is the same for you too.

What a wench! :shame:

I would've been more scared to book a repeat c-sec than try for a VBAC.
Why do ppl think it's ok to say stuff like that with such a personal and emotive issue?

My goodness, that is rude.

A c-section? Wimpy? Pffttt...

I've heard nothing but the opposite.

What makes her think all c-section experiences are so breezy?

Maybe someone needs to enlighten her on what exactly a Caesarean entails.

Offer to cut her open if it's so easy!

grrr i hate this.

after my traumatic labour then emergency caesarean this woman had the cheek to say "ohhh lucky you, i'd love to have a caesar next time".

:hair::banghead::hissy:

some people are just thoughtless and not worth listening to. (mind you this woman made me very upset and want to smash her face in!)

Thats pretty sad that someone tries to make you feel bad in saying something like that:no:
A cesar is no breeze at all, your actually being brave to go trough with it:hugs:
I am in the position where I had a long labour and an emergency cesar with dd and been advised to have an elective which I am but I am not happy about it, I wish I could try and give birth natrually even if I was given 50% chance of being able to deliver natrualy but I can't so I have had to just come to term with the fact that the cesar is my best option and it is wrong for someone to call you a "wimp" when a cesar is not the easy way out at all!

Mmmm C/S's for wimps? I don't think so!!! It is way more painful and harder then a VB! That lady has rocks in her head!

Do what feels best for you, she obviously hasn't been in your shoes

What a stupid woman. There is nothing wimpy about a cs.
You get cut open, might have major complications then have a lovely 6 or more weeks recovery with a baby to look after at the same time.

Who said it was the easy option, hey!?

I don't get why she would say such a silly thing and I dont understand why women have to "suffer" to become valid mothers. Oh well, some people hey?

Good luck with you new bundle, I really hope you do not have a hard time of it. xxx

I think women who opt for c/s for no valid medical reason or don't try a natural birth are wimps. But I'd never actually tell them!

Good luck and may your recovery be swift - I healed so much faster after the c/s than the natural birth disaster.

Does this woman have any children of her own? Does she know what child birth is like at all?

What a rude b!tch. I hope you didn't take it to heart. It's your body, your baby, so therefore your choice on however you birth your baby.

Some idiots just need to learn to keep their mouths shut on things that have absolutely nothing to do with.

Clearly a very stupid thing to say :dizzy:

That is just plain stupid. Where do people get the idea it is wimpy

Does she realise that you will be awake while they cut into your body often severing your stomach muscles where you can feel them tugging on your muscles and after your child is born you lay there while they stitch you up AND then you have to get up and walk the next morning and have your movements limited for weeks after.

I would like to see someone like that lay there awake while somebodies cuts into her body and see who is wimpy then  Natural birth seems so much easier. You can go home the next day without a massive amount of drugs or someone poking you for days to see if you have passed wind incase they knicked your bowel

I was told by the ob i'd have to have a c.section as there is no way i'd get a baby out. my hips are all for show :hair:. it took me the best part of 3 months to feel even a little normal again and to be able to stand straight. perhaps that's longer than 'normal' but i struggled more than i ever imagined. i think what made it worse was that i did want a VB.

Let's just hope that when this woman thing has a baby (or her next?) that she tears from end to end, has massive amounts of internal stitches, pees fire for 6 weeks AND gets constipated because they stitch the wrong hole up.:devil6:

don't you feel guilty or anything about your decision, it's your decision, i don't understand why anyone feels it's ok to weigh into it.
