I really like the Britax products so I want to buy a car seat suitable from birth for my baby due in Jan. There are eleven seats in the category I am looking at and I haven't even checked the prices yet!

Does anyone have any information/read reviews on which has been tested as the safest seat.

Thanks
Incy x :)

how big is your car ?
if you have a good amount of room you could look at the meridian or if you were after a smaller seat the compaq is also a great choice.

they are all good seats but out of all i like the compaq and meridian the most. i am about to buy a compaq

I have a Sleep and Recline currently, and my other kids seats where also britax/safe and sound.

I have never had a problem with then, and have even had one exchanged in there crash exchange program, which was excellent peace of mind. I am pretty sure they would all be safe as they have to pass stringent testing, and the one i had that was in an accident, had no damage although i had it exchanged to be sure.

I purchased mine from Target, as it was on a really good special i think i saved about 80-90 bucks.

They get a thumbs up from me, although i do wish i got one that had the little shade cover bit! Maybe you could look into it to.

:iagree: The meridian AHR has additional safety features in the head support(AHR stands for Active Head Restraint), in the event of an accident.

DD has 4 Safe 'n' Sound seats and they offer much better weight/height limits overall(ie. rear facing til 12kgs in a lot of models, and taller than a lot of other seats on the market).

i have a safe n sound royale (manual) and its fantastic.

we bought it in 2005 and have used it from when bubs was born (she was born premmie) up until she was 2.

i am going to use it for the 2nd bub due in jan and it looks brand new and is very easy to wash.

they are very safe and i love it. its definitely worth spending the extra money buying a decent seat. i think the platinum AHR is their top model..if you can afford it then go for it.

The meridian is great and will last the longest for a taller child as the head restraint can go a little bit higher than the seat.

The AHR ones have better protection than the others in a side-impact crash. Most the others are focused on head on or rear-end crashes (which are much more common) But side impact still does happen, which is why we went for one, for added piece of mind. It is also rearward rated for up to 12kg (i think most the convertibles are now anyway) but that is a great feature, DS was over one before he faced the front, and so was much safer for longer.

I couldnt recommend the Meridian car seat. Its a great carseat and the safest one on the market - which gives me greater peace of mind.
