This is the first month I plan to use an OPK, and I have a question for all of you who have experience with them...
The instructions (Fortel) say to use a wee you have collected between 10am and 8pm. Today I need to work a 12hr day, and I won't be home at any stage between those hours, so I would like to know why they give that time slot, and how critical it is.
Has anyone used an OPK outside that time slot and successfully worked out when they were O'ing?
I know you shoudln't use first morning urine, but why shouldn't you use any wee before 10am or after 8pm?

For that matter, I'd also be interested in when the other brands of OPK's say you should test :)

i have a maybe baby and plan to use it soon. You can then do it as soon as you wake up before you leave home, or could you take your opk with you??
I bought a Confirm kit of 5 opks and it came with a preg test. I don't have the instructions anymore so I'm not sure when it says to do it and I can't remember when I did it as I only used it once, then I used the preg test (BFP:smiliedance: )
I had a question about the preg test though so I rang the consumer hotline number and the lady I spoke to was very nice and very helpful. Is there a similar number on your opk packet you could ring and ask their opinion?

Hi Kazza,
That's actually a good idea. I wish I had done that yesterday and then i'd know what I should have done today  oh well...
Hi Oliver and Bella's Mummy, I don't really want to do it at work if I can avoid it, I think it's too much hassle, and I don't like the thought of putting things I've peed on into the bins where the cleaners might come in contact with them.
Do other people on this forum just do it at work?
you can get OPK stream tests where you just pee on it and put a cap over the bit you peed on, this way you can take it out of the work bathroom with you and wait the required minutes at your desk (if this is more convinient). The stick can even stay in your handbag and you can bin it in the evening at home...

Hi little_fish,
That's really interesting. I have been using the First Response brand of OPK for the past 2 months. (I am not going to use it any more because apparently it doesn't work so well with me because I am using Clomid....another story) But I clearly remember it said to use first morning's urine OR a sample after you have NOT drank anything for 2 hours. Very different instructions to Fortel. Hmmm.....:detective:
The instructions in the Ovunow ones are pretty similar. Unfortunately I drink alot of water so I think I diluted my urine to much for it register well and I only got a faint line once.

That is interestesting Leilani  I am sure that my test kit said just the opposite, I will check tonight when I go home, just to make certain.
 Hartz. Was it similar to my kit or Leilani's kit?
