Umbilical Hernia Is It Painful

Hey there,
For a couple of weeks now i have had a sore and sensative belly button, sometimes when i cough or sneeze it hurts or turn the wrong way it hurts as well.Could this be an umbilical hernia is it painful?Or is it just pressure from the bub or the muscles separating im not sure.Is it worth going to the docs for as i know that u cant do much about a hernia.

Oh yeh forgot to ask if it goes away after having bub?

I had a small umbilical hernia, the pain you described sounds about the same, plus I has a big hard lump underneath my bellybutton at the top. My doc pretty much said just put up with it! I'm now 4 weeks post birth and the lump is gone and I haven't had any pain, so I'm assuming it's gone. I'd just mention it at your next appointment, good luck :)

Yeah, my cousin has this exact thing and its a hernia and they can't do anything about it at the moment, while she is pregnant.

Not sure about after she has bubs.

I had a small one when pregnant though only once did i get a bit of bad pain from it which went away luckily pretty quickly. The doc said it should go (and it did) once i had the baby. He basically said though if started to get real bad pain in it and vomiting then to go to emergency cause it could have pinched the bowel.

If its hurting a lot and constantly Id get the doc to check it out incase - its better to make sure alls ok.
