It all started on Wednesday the 17th Sept (bubs due date), Woke up feeling fine but annoyed at the fact there was none of my fave coffee in the cupboard so I got DD ready and mum drove us down to the supermarket, I was standing in line to pay when the first contraction hit, it was 9:36am
They were coming every ten minutes after that and I knew they were contractions as they werent as painful as the braxton hicks I'd been having but regular
I continued throughout the day coping realy well but called my sister and the kids dad to warn them that today may well just be bubs birthday my sister arrived about 2pm as she was to be the photographer I didnt think she'd be able to support me as she was also 35wks pregnant
Fast forward to the afternoon and the contractions started to become very irregular but a bit more painful some were 30mins inbetween, I honestly thought they would stop altogether
At about 6:30pm they were getting extremely intense but I wasnt going anywhere until I'd had dinner (mum was cooking) :D, I txt my midwife to let her know I was having irregular painful contractions but most were about 10-15mins apart she replied and let me know that if it was going to happen it will and to keep my fluids up
7pm and in intense pain I just finished my dinner and thought I had to use the loo but nope I remembered this pressure feeling from my labour with DD, I called Aaron and told him he'd better pick me up as this bub isnt too far away he arrived at 7:30pm we got the carseat in and off we went to the birth centre where Maria had already had the bath filling up as I'd so desperatley wanted a waterbirth
8pm I laboured in the shower while the bath filled the water on my back was pure bliss and it was now time to jump in the bath, the water was beautiful I continued to labour thinking this was never going to end as I'd not had a show nor had my water broken but I started to feel the urge to push and through the next 3 contractions I felt a huge pop which was such a relief I knew it wouldnt be long before I met our bub (waters broke at 9:20pm) 3 pushes later and I could feel bubs head coming, as his head came out I freaked out and jumped above the water and his head was born I could here him taking his first breath one more push and out slid his body he had his cord wrapped around his neck, arm and foot but he was perfectly fine. Izzy entered the world at 9:33pm
We got out of the water and layed down for our first breastfeed and to deliver the placenta which took about 30 mins
While he wasnt born in the water like I had planned I'm so happy with my birth experience this time round and my midwife and sister were an excellent support, after a shower and a cuddle we were home by 1am thursday morning. DD couldnt believe 'her' baby was in the cot when she woke up in the morning. She has adjusted really well and just adores her baby brother.
