Growing up we always had white bread and so did everyone else i used to go to school with and associate with. Since having ds and being just the two of us i decided to go for the wholegrain bread instead and to my surprise ds actually would eat it. The last few months though i've been getting the 9 grain plus rye and it's so good for our digestive system and ds will happily eat it for toast and sandwiches. He rarely eats white bread now as i always have the other one and i'm pretty sure his dad does too...so... What bread does your family eat? Do they dislike multigrain? Or are they not really fussed? Roll coming...

We eat white. I know it's not the most healthy though. When I was growing up my mum was a health guru and I wasn't allowed white bread, only multigrain and wholemeal. I always found that wholemeal went stale very quicky, and mum would make us eat the whole loaf before getting another one. So I was left with stale wholemeal sandwiches every day for school :barf: So I guess I have an aversion to brown bread now.

I make my own wolemeal bread. If I do buy bread it's ALWAYS wholemeal or multigrain.
I voted other, we always buy our bread from the Woolworths bakery (cheaper than the commercial brands and no nasty preservatives ), and we either get the four seed loaf or soy and linseed. Yum, yum, they are delicious!!
Grain bread rather than white bread was a conscious decision DP and I made when DD started eating solids, we thought if she's used to eating grain bread then that will quickly become the norm for her. So far so good, she loves it!
I ate white bread pretty much my whole life, before switching over to multigrain.I hardly eat white now,and multigrain is all DS has ever known. He loves it.

 Thats totally understandable, nobody wants to eat stale bread...
The only thing we do with our stale bread is feed it to the ducks :p

Oh i love the soy and linseed bread too  that was our regular one, but ds had constipation issues after being on antibiotics for a few weeks with ear infections, so we switched to the 9 grains plus rye as it has a lot more fibre. Might go back to the soy and linseed soon though :) he he
I was brought up on a mix of breads - multigrain through the week and white from the bakery on weekends as a treat.
DS loves loves loves dark breads, the darker the better. He has a wheat free dark Bavarian Rye from my Mum's local bakery - he's just started having wheat again after being treated for gluten intolerance, but we're starting him slowly.
DH and I adore rye bread too. Love the Burgen Rye as a treat when it's on special!
Generally it's grain bread or mountain bread (oat or rye).
Bug and I mainly eat multigrain. I was brought up in a house where dad was the only one allowed to have the white bread so us kids got either multigrain or wholemeal. Im happy the Bug is willing to eat any of them that I give her.

I choose my bread based on Fibre content and calorie count. A high Fibre low calorie bread is my choice. The kids don't like seeds or nuts so I can't give them multigrain but they seem to be fine with a good quality wholemeal. Occassionally i brin white bread in but it's usually a dense kind (Helga's Country white or Organic white) because the Fibre content is closer to wholemeal.
It's great that DS will eat multigrain!

We eat multigrain.
It is a good compromise for us. I love white bread and I can't stand wholemeal or brown bread but I can tolerate multigrain.
DS is mostly only given multigrain so he doesn't know any different. It is only if we are at someone elses house that he will get white bread if that is all they have.
I've always eaten white, so I haven't really thought about it. Occasionally I buy fruit bread for breaky for DH and DS (I hate it!). I only buy Home Brand Bread - its no different to basic white bread of other brands...and its so cheap!

We don't eat alot of bread, but when we do it's Burgen sometimes Helga's (whatever is on sale) soy and linseed .Anything with seeds.
we buy multigrain or soy&linseed. i haven't bought white bread in YEARS! Harper only has it if we're at someone else's house and thats all they have...
I am a Bakers Delight Junkie, so we have a mixture of breads:yes:. White, dark, grains or wholemeal. I only ever buy bread from Bakers Delight though, never from the supermarket.

If you're talking about the 99c breads, then they are different. They contain a truckload of preservative 282, which is well-known for it's ability tosend kids completely troppo and unsettle them - it can turn the best sleeper into an insomniac and cause tantrums worthy of an academy award.
The fruit breads also contain a lot of these preservatives.
Most companies are coming to the party and removing this blight on society from their products, but those cheap breads from the supermarkets, including Coles, Woolies, Aldi etc, are pretty much a ticking time bomb for a lot of kids (and adults too, it can make adults frustrated and aggressive too).

I was also brought up on a mix of breads, and I do the same with my kidlets but I have found if they have to much fibre it goes right through them

The majority of the time its multigrain but soon it will be home made wholemeal bread. My dad refused to eat anything but white when I was growing up. I do love rye bread and barley mountain bread. i love my wraps (in fact mountain bread is technically all I should be having but shhhhh)
