my son will be 1 in august..what are some good ideas for gifts?
My daughter got a FP Stride to Ride walker for her first birthday and LOVED it. Also loves her toy telephone and soft bouncy balls. She's not really into the whole teddy bear thing even though she got about 3 on the day!
We gave DD1 some drums - a rubber topped one and a wooden one and she loves them still. They aren't too noisy and she loves to sit there and play them with her music going.
She also got bath toys, wooden puzzles, books, and a tennis racquet (don't ask - her father is addicted to sports and sees himself as sitting in the box at Wimbledon watching her accept the cup!)

We gave my son heaps of books as he loves to sit down and read books. Nanny gave him one of those plastic chair and table sets and his uncle gave him Tonka Toys.

Hi All,
Grace is one in a few weeks and we bought her a Wheely Bug. It is a really little ride on Lady beetle made of wood with little wheels like the one's on the bottom of beds. It is from K&K Toys(in brisbane). It was $99 and does them between the ages of 1-3.
Also she loves Maisy Books so got some of them.
Cheers

My sons favourite gift on his first birthday was one of those fold out couches !! He loves being like mum and Dad and sitting on his couch :)
I think that giving a first birthday present they can always keep like a money box or ornament or something like that they will have as an adult. I also like the idea of planting a special tree in the garden.

my friend got her DS a wheely bug for his first bday too! They are great
We brought DD one of those trikes with the "parent handle" she loves it! From other people she got lots of clothes, books, Little People farmyard set, puzzles, stacking boxes etc.

I bought a second-hand wooden rocking horse that I'm going to do up for DD and also a Fisher Price farm set. We're going to have a country-theme party at our farm.
Any ride-on trike or car would be a good gift. Also books, an inflatable pool seat, beach toys, a Nerf ball.
My DS loved and still loves his Sesame Street Tool Bench from Toys R Us. He shares it now with his 9.5 month old sister too :) Cute.
My ds loves his books he got for his first birthday - especially books with touchy feely parts, and buttons to press that make noise.
Cars/trains and anything else that can be pushed along the ground are also a big hit with him.
Even now, at nearly 16 months he's not that impressed with his walker, a ride on car and a rocking horse, but he did only start walking himself 6 weeks ago, so maybe he'll get more interested in time.
