Ok i'm not saying that i'm goin to wean, just wanting advice on the matter.
MJ is almost 1 & I was wondering if i do wean now, how do I do it & what do i give her instead? Do we give cows milk, how many times a day? What about toddler formula?
Still in two minds about it as MJ is very attached to them to the point of if she cant have milk when she wants it she throws huge tantrums. I dont want to hurt her feeling iykwim.
Any advice appreciated :)

Hi,
When weaning I have read that you go on the dont offer but dont refuse method ( I have not try this as both mine self weaned ). Try distraction and activity to take her mind off Breastfeeding.
I wouldnt recommend toddler formula, plain full cream milk is all that you need to offer, off the top of my head its about 600mls of dairy as a whole so including cheese, milk and yoghurt but you could give more if she will drink it. Use a sippy cup or staw cup for the milk, to save the trouble of weaning again, dental decay and ear infections.

I weaned DD1 at 13 months beacuse I was pregnant with DD2 and needed a break. I started the process by introducing cow's milk at about 11 1/2 months in a cup with a straw. I then slowly replaced feeds with drinks of milk. I went from 6 feeds a day to 3 feeds a day in two weeks ( which is how I got pregnant as an aside:rolleyes:) then after a few more weeks dropped the lunchtime one, then the evening one, then the morning one. It was quite gradual and she liked her cow's milk and is in fact still addicted to it - needs one on waking and one before going to sleep every night.
DD2 was a much later wean but again I did it with cow's milk (and because I was pregnant again:rolleyes: ). I started to introduce milk in a cup from 12 months (she had been on water in a cup and EBM in a bottle earlier). Again - feed by feed I did it. Interestingly she isn't that hooked on milk and prefers water but will guzzle milk in the morning from a sipper cup if it is warmed first. DD1 will only drink it straight from the fridge and through a straw. So - different things for different kids.
