my 14mth old DD has raised red looking patches on her bottom and inner thighs. It is patchy but angry looking. She rarely gets any rash but has had this for a few days. We have tried paw paw cream, zinc cream, cornflour and nappy free time. I dont use soap or body wash on her at all and she wears MCN's not disposables most of the time. The only different thing is that she has been wearing a MCN night nappy every night instead of a disposable at night. COuld the rash be from the night nappy or a coincidence? \
Just thought someone may have some ideas as she is uncomfortable and cries when i change her

Hi hon. Sorry to hear Isabella is in so much pain the poor thing :(
What kind of night nappy is she using out of interest? Is there some kind of material in it that's not in her day time nappies?
Could she be teething at all?
Hope it clears up soon... poor little thing. My DD went through something similar about 3 weeks ago and it was just heart breaking!

hi there Bella wears krap katchers at night so they are microfleece next to her skin. All her other nappies are either bamboo or suedecloth so it could be the fleece that is causing it. What did u use for your DD for her nappy rash?
ps have you tried the bumgenis yet?;)

I was going to ask what sort of night nappy you are using, as fleece can cause some nasty stuff in some babies, but the fact that it is a new rash that is not responding to basic creams suggests it could be thrush or another fungal rash. If it is a fungal, it should respond to a cream like Daktozin.
I would pop into a pharmacy and show someone and they will be able to identify if it is fungal and recommend a product that will clear it up.

When it's really bad I use a fungal nappy cream called canneston. I then cover that with a thicker cream called Nappy Mate to protect it, as recommended by a pharmacist. Worked a charm, but took a couple of days.
Is this the first time you've used the Krap Katcher? You need to try eliminating possible causes, and that could be one of them.
Yes I used the bumgenius and it's great thankyou so much :) I still prefer GKs, but it's so good to have a few different nappies now. I also have Itti Bitti D'lishes and BBH Magicalls. I have bonnibuns (night time nappies) on their way to me now too, which is exciting!
Have you had the chance to use the GK minky?

LOl, that is the $64,000 question! I have pondered this so many times and discussed it at length with so many people and I am yet to come up with a perfect solution.:p
Fleece is a good liner in terms of drawing moisture (wee!) away but then it can irritate the skin. My DS has issues with Magic alls if left on for more than an hour or so.
Cotton is lovely but doesn't draw away the wee, so kind of defeats the purpose. Wool directly on skin can irritate it also. There are silk liners which I am told are good but I have never tried them.

no its not the first time ive used the krap katcher but i was usuing disposables every 2nd night but now am using the krap katcher every night. The rash is not just on her bottom but also on her inner thighs in patches (where is would touch the nappy as the krap katcher is bulky when boosted). Will go and buy a pack of sposies to use for night time for a few nights i think.
I like the GK minky. SHe wore it under her white skirt today and even the lady at the shoe shop commented on her nappy! only thing is she undoes the velcro and takes it off! most of my other nappies are snaps so i guess its a new experience for her lol But thanks its great and its her only white nappy which is good to go under her white pants/skirts :)

well i put her in a disposable with zinc cream and the rash is just about gone. So im thinking she is reacting to the microfleece. Will try her night nappies again and see if the same thing happens.:)
