I just got off the phone to my PHI after chatting with them on/off for about 6 months about a particular extras programme that members are entitled to WHEN they birth in hospital. There was no substitute programme for homebirthers.
However - now; due to my persistence and picking them up on a few issues - they are changing their policy to extend this particular programme to homebirthing mothers :yelclap:
Yay for Defence Health  And here is hoping for more changes that benefit more homebirthers in other PHI's in the future :flowerz:
Well done!
Does this mean you qualify?
Good for you, that is fantastic!! :yelclap: :thumbsup:

Damn straight I qualify now lol
I'm so excited about it - its so good to feel like I've actually DONE something for the homebirthing community. I realise that only members of Defence Health will benefit from it - but gosh I hope it helps to set a benchmark for other PHI's as well.

Oh - its not THAT big a win.
It will give me 2 boxes of Huggies, 6hrs of housecleaning and hire of a breastpump or TENS machine... Nothing monetary.
Wait, it won't cover the costs of the midwife?
That can be your next mission!

Absolutely :yelclap:
They pay up to $1500 per financial year for a midwife ($1k for delivery and $500 for pre/post natal visits) so technically I should be able to claim up to $2K with them - cause I've been pregnant over two financial years. Still a step ahead most over PHI's
