hi
i thought it would be interesting to know what age was your bub when you left them with someone else (not your other half) for more than a few minutes. (actually leaving the house and not the room) adn for how long? and at what age did you leave them overnight?
i have enough problems leaving my 8 month old at my mums place for a few hours, and i was wondering how many of us struggle to let go.

I trust my mum fully with my kids. my mum has had them sleep over from 3 months old. She hasnt had the twins much as babies though, they were just too much for herto handle. My parents had DS#2 for 5 days when he was about 1. And we took DS#1 on holidays with us.
Mum quite often had the twins for 2-3 hours though, while I went shopping, when they were about 2.
She has had Alannah probably 2 days a week from 9-2.30 from when she was little. Alannah doesnt like to stay over at nights just yet, she likes her own bed. She slept over once but didnt sleep too well. Day time she is fine.
hmmm
My sister took my baby out for a few hours when she was around 7 weeks old while I slept.
We went out for the evening when she was just over two months old (well to a restaurant down the road for a few hours for our anniversary) while a good friend babysat.
I would say though, if my family were in this country, I am sure I would have no hesitation letting them (mam/sister/etc.) mind Aoife.
i found it very difficult leaving my firstborn
but now with my third
he has spent a few hours with mil
so hubby and i can 'date'
At 6 months he is bf so it can't be for long
i think by 8 months it is good to have some time away
and maybe a night way by 12 months
as long as everybody is happy..

I left her for an hour when she was a week old with my SIL (at our house) but I freaked out the whole time. It was an urgent situation.
I left her with my mother when she was about 8 weeks old, again at our house. She's had her numerous times since then...they love eachother alot! :)
I have no problem whatsoever leaving her with my mother, I trust her implicitly.
I have never left her overnight with anyone, don't know when I will do that.

My dd was about 10 months before I left her with my mum, who looks after her while I am at work. The first time was soooo hard and it was only for about 1 hour and then each week I extended the time until I knew that she would be fine when I went back to work. Well going back to work was another story, I cried all the way to work for about the first month each time I dropped her at mums and I still do if she is sick or crying when I leave but most times she is happy to be at Nanna's for the day. I still haven't left her overnight yet and she is 2 years and 2 months old, she is still breastfed morning and night though so that's my excuse.:)

I trust my mother completley with my DS she has had him overnight while i went out with the girls when he was 3 months old...i went back and stayed there though and once stayed there all by himself just last week (so 6 months old). I have left him a few times with my sister and MIL for a couple of hours a day too :)
Jade is almost nine months old and I haven't left her with anyone. The most I have done is one hour while I was at water aerobics, I left her with DP... but that's all been my issue not hers. Next wednes day I will be leaving her with a highly trusted friend for the first tiem for four hours, while I go and get pampered at a day spa.
(day spa courtesy or DP who is trying to help with my separation issues - gawd love 'im)

DD1 stayed with my Nan when she was about 4 1/2 months old so DP could take me out for my birthday :smiliedance:. We were going to pick her up after dinner but ended up staying out fairly late so Nan rang before she went to bed and told us all was fine and it was OK if we picked her up in the morning. I was up soooooooo early and got there to pick her up at about 7:30 in the morning - I couldn't hold out any longer!!
DD2 (well both girls) stayed with my Mum for 3 days when she was 8 weeks so I could go skiing for the weekend. I missed 4 seasons for various reasons and was staying at mums for 2 weeks and the snow was good and not far away so I packed my backpack and holidayed like a broke teenager for the weekend

Im like Jaderocks & have had issues with leaving bubs.
I had left him for an hour with my mum when he was around 6mths or so but that was it.
So i was rather proud of myself to finally have a nite out without bubs :smiliedance:
I went out with the Sydney bubhub girlies to Star City for a great meal & a few drinks which then turned into a rather early morning home coming
I blame Natasha, Maria & Lisa it was all there doing  :p
So i left bubs at around 6.30pm & wasnt home till 4am !!!!!!
Well i had fun & he slept the nite away not even missing his Mama which i think made it easier for me !

DS would have been about 7 months and it was for about 2 hours. MIL looked after him while i had a ultrasound done earlier this year.
apart from that DS comes everywhere with us. we have left him with my mum and siblings for 30 mins on easter sunday when we realised we forgot to pick up lunch lol  (long story lol)

I found it really hard at first to leave DS, at first I used to take him to my mum's house for a few hours but I would stay and have a sleep there to have a break for a while:sleeping: . Then I think he was about 4 months old when I left him there while I went home to clean for a few hours. He is now 20 months old, and still goes to my mum's occasionally for a few hours so I can take a scrapbook class or DH and I can 'date'. But apart from that he's never been left overnight or with anyone apart from my mum, he comes to work with me in the afternoons...maybe I'm just protective, but i've never had the need to leave hi with anyone else and I'm lucky that I have a job where i am able to take him with me, I don't miss a moment or a milestone that way:D
