I keep thinking about this and never doing anything about it!!

Why don't Baker's Delight make their cheesymite scrolls with wholemeal or grain bread?????
This reall yannoys me as I know ds would love them and they would be a good 'out and about' lunch. However, I refuse to give him white bread!

I am going to go to my local store in the next couple of days and mention it to them adn I might even see if there is a way I can send an email.

So, I am asking all you mums out there to get on the band wagon with me - go to your local store and let them know. I am going now, to search for their website if it exists and will post teh link for those that wish to make a difference!!

good idea. while you're at it ask why they vary so much from store to store. sometimes you get the big soft squishy ones with lots and lots of cheese and sometimes you get the overcooked dried up ones with little cheese..probably a consequence of franchising.
the queen...............i thought you must have been off having a baby...........

Depends who makes them, how long they sit in the proover for, how long they bake for, how long they siit before being sold etc.

All their food is cooked fesh & all but the mince pies & pastries are made instore (they are delivered frozen)

I wonder if it's worth trying to make them at home yourself if you have time??

I might have to try my hand at that after I go grocery shopping on Wednesday. I'll post pics of the end result(probably end in disaster tho).

but yep, I'll mention it to my local bakers delight when I go next :)

Its not hard. Basic bread dough, rolled out into rectangle. Spread with vegemite, leaving a strip along the long side. Sprinkle with cheese & roll up. Cut into strips put on oven tray & sprinkle with more cheese & bake in oven.:chef:

Why not make your own? The vegemite website has a recipe and you can use wholemeal flour.

They had wholemeal cheesymites and spincah and feta rolls at my bakers delight today. I had a feta one for lunch, it was great. That was in Camberwell. The lady said they are selling well! I have never seen them before, but as they make them now Jem, you could request your local to make them too.:)

I am good friends with a Baker's Delight franchise owner so will ask if they can make some (he made mini ones for DD2's birthday party - the kids loved them!). SOmetimes the franchise agreement means that they can't do certain things, but some of them will give anything a go in terms of baking!

The reason for the difference between shops is the different people making them - I can tell at our local who has baked the croissants by looking at them - the two main bakers have a major difference of opinion about what colour they should end up. You also need to understand that some of the shops are owned by bakers who did their full 3 year apprenticeships outside the baker's delight chain and therefore know how to bake anything while others are owned by people who bought the business and did the 6 week training course to learn to make the baker's delight recipes - that will account for many differences!

i'm not a mcdonalds fan but i'm positive they are a franchise too and i'm wondering if their burgers and other stuff varies from shop to shop.....???

I think you will find that at MacDonalds their food comes frozen and prepared - they don't have someone out the back grinding the mince to make the patties whereas in the bakeries they are measuring flour, adding cheese on top etc. Are you seriously saying that you would like your bakery to be more like MacDonalds? Very odd.

The idea of making my own is a good one, but I may as well just chuck togethera cheese and vegemite sanger to cuck in the nappy bag. I was thinking they would be good if I wanted to rush out the door or ended up being out unexpectedly at meal times, then I could just pick one up while out.

Anyway, maybe it is jsut a matter of asking. Or maybe the clientele in some areas dictates wether or not they would bother to do them.
