Well last week Chris was slashing the sides of roads and a fella hopped out of his ute and told Chris to put in for a job on the Ergon Energy as a Lines Distributor. As he will definantely get it. The fella that pulled him up is the main top boss for this district and if he sees Chris' name on the list he will choose him.
Chris has been on the slasher for 8mths now. And well for an opportunity to just pop up like this I truly reckon he should take it.
It is an apprenticeship for 3yrs but he will be getting what hes getting now but wit all of the sick, holiday etc pays. Plus also a $5000 grant for small families a year.
Hubby isn't so sure about doing it as he doesn't want to stuff his boss around now as hes also good mates with him.
What do you think?
I think he should do it. Go for that other job. You have to look after your own interests first and I bet his boss did not get to boss by being considerate of other peoples feelings.
Business is business, and he has a family to look after.

It is up to your hubby, but I say do it:thumbsup: My husband just finished his adult apprenticeship as a electrician, we are so much better off now:D And he is doing really well, now he will go for his contractors license and start his own business...
Oh and I just quit work because we can afford it now...
So I say if a opportunity comes up take it!!

It would be great for you guys to have those extras the new job would offer, but ultimately i wouldn't push it, it really has to be his decision. I wouldnt be basing his decision off 'matehood' issues though, family interests come first  However, if he takes the new job based off that and then doesnt enjoy it, he could resent you for it. A tough call :(
I dont think that anybody can sway him unless he has a look around to see what others are earning and how they got there. Maybe he wont do it until he finds his own motivation?

But when he came home last week after he got told to apply he was so happy. By the sounds of it he does want to do it, but its just his boss he doesn't want to let down.
I just don't want him to regret it later down the track if he doesn't apply.

why not tell him to apply and see how he goes. you could tell him to discuss it with his boss. If they're mates, I'm sure he'll understand and I'm sure if his boss were in his position, he'd take the job too. As long as he gives his boss a chance to find someone else, I don't think the boss would be too upset.

Thats another thing, the slasher isn't a full time job, the grass doesn't grow that quick without rain. If he was up to it he could work one day a wkd or something so its still getting done.
