View Full Version : New to Australia
Hi, we moved to Melbourne from New Zealand early March last year with a 4 year old daughter. I was providing inhome childcare for a friend and was searching with the intention of getting stuck into work. I was hopeful that I would then meet new people. However I then discovered that I was pregnant with my second DD, all priorities shifted to maternity gear.
My eldest DD started school at the beginning of the year and with my bubba now firmly in a routine I find myself bored to tears. My hard working partner gets up daily to go to work and has managed to make friends through his workplace. However I feel trapped at home with my world revolving around the house work and the kids and would LOVE to be able to meet people with similar interests.
It would be great to hear from you

HI NZMama
I just left melb so thats a bit of a shame, as i dont know many ppl either, aside from the few ive clicked with off forums and met. Thats wat i wanted to say, i hope u can find some cool ppl here from Melb to click with, there are heaps here and they are excellent!
I also wanted to say welcome to Ozzie land - and aside form your issues i hope your making it your true home and love it here!
Could u try a play group so u and your youngest could meet other mums and kids? it is hard meeting other ppl isnt it, spesh when your kids are involved and u dont know any one and ur scared of the risks, i just faced that issue too!
I wish i could help you more. I guess u just have to really get out there and meet ppl, or get a hobbie, maybe try working from home, things such as Avon or Tupperware, ive herd thats a GREAT way to meet and make great friends!
Good luck - i know how daunting it can be, but always remember, u can make some very cool online friends here, and if ur lucky, u can take them OFFLINE and meet them! :smiliedance:
