l am 10 weeks pregnant and l know l am thinking ahead of time but l was wongering if anyone ever used or hired a capsule. With dd l just used the usual reversible car seat but l was always disturbing her just to get out of the car for 5 mins. l was thinking how much easier it would be to use a capsule for at leats 4 months with number 2.

i hired a capsule for when coop was born. i think it cost $110 but when we returned it we got $60 back(something like that) so in the end it only cost $50 for 6mths hire. you can hire them from baby shops and hospitals also do them as well. hope that helps
I hired a capsule with similar thoughts in mind. However found it quite tricky to get it in and out, and would end up waking him anyhow. Not to mention it was too hard on my back, I had an emergancy C/S and found I couldnt carry the capsule very far with him in it anyhow.

I hired a capsule this time,.. with 3 kiddies to get in and out and 2 to take to preschool, it was a godsend. Whereabouts are you? I can recommend a great little hire company in Sydney.:)

I currently have a hire one form the QLD Ambulance. $60 for 6 months - and they fit it properly for you. Its great for when DS is asleep as you dont have to wake him when you arrive somewhere, or duck into a shop etc. C38 is right its not the most ergonomic of carriers - but serves its function well.
I would definitely recommend it!;)

yes we've had capsules for both our babies and will get another one for this baby.
when they are asleep in the car and you just want to carry them out it's priceless!
no unstrapping and waking them up.
also with a toddler in tow, you just grab the capsule and presto, you have your own baby seat to take with you to coffee or a friends house, no having to leave baby on a sofa or table when you need a free pair of hands,,., and hopefully they nod off or stay asleep!
i couldnt do without a capsule.

I'm in Qld and got ours from the Qld Ambulance.
You get it for 6 months, and it costs you $60, so $10 a month, which is really nothing.
The one we got was brand new and fantastic! We also had a carseat, but the capsule was for my mother's car. I lived with her at the time, and so I could either be in DD's dads car, or in my mother's car... so I needed two rather than keep switching the carseat from the cars... that took forever.
I think it was more than worth it... however, I only took the capsule out if I was going inside my own home (or someone elses). I never carried it around. Too freaking heavy.
My capsule was a godsend in the early days!! And is still useful now, too.
We had a reversible carseat, but found we were disturbing DD too much getting her in and out for short trips, for example popping down to the shops for milk. Not to mention when she had fallen asleep in the car - impossible NOT to wake her when trying to get her out of the regular carseat.
We hired one for about $60. Our "proper" carseat is in the corner of the loungeroom. :o
I would highly recommend one!!
yep - get one - it's a godsend!
