Yep we study this at school for some reason, Women were given this drug to prevent miscarriage but was found to cause ovarian and breast cancer in the daughters of the women who took it while they were pregnant. Did your mum take it?

Yes, I've heard of this and had a talk with my mum a few years ago. She actually couldn't remember if she'd take it but if my memory is correct she talked to her doctor and was assured that she hadn't been given it. It's worth the talk to have that question answered.
