 Girls I want to get your opinions on the tommee tippee bottles, the ones that are curved anti colic and have a screw lid on the top and bottom. They cost about $12.95 each. Are they any good? Has anyone tried them?

Hi Alexandra,

I havent tried the tommee tippee bottles but I use the Avent bottles and they claim to be great for reducing colic too but my DS got the worst colic ever so the bottles didnt help at all. Although I havent had any probs with them, they did not appear to reduce colic.

I cant comment on the tommee tippee ones but a child health nurse told me that it doesnt matter which bottles you use, some babies even go better with the cheapies. Just a bit of info for you, but maybe just buy 1 or 2 to try because if they dont reduce colic you may aswell just buy the cheaper ones.

Good Luck!

Leanne

We used the tommee tippee bottles for both our boys, though not the one you're talking about. We used the normal tommee tippee bottles and the Nuk anti colic teats (silicone not latex), I thought they were briliian. They lasted for ages and I only had to change the teats when the sizes changed, they didn't wear our like some do.

I think when you're all crazy and running out of options you start getting some hope thinking that the bottles might help. Gosh I'm just praying that this colics will stop soon. He just holds so much wind in. I'm going crazyyyyyyyyy:banghead:

I think Brauer have a homeopathic colic remedy. I haven't tried that one, but I use some of their other products and I think they are quite good!

I have tried the bottle you describe, my local chemist had a buy one, get one free offer so I was keen to try them. I honestly found no difference between the curved shape and the normal shape (Tommee Tippee) brand so I wouldn't suggest you get one...

Is it more the type of teat that you use for a bottle? Rather than the type of bottle? ( Assumming the teat fits the bottle).

I have had problems with the messurement markings on all of my tommy tippee bottles (8in total). All makings either wore off or smudged so I could net read them. This started to happen after 2-3 weeks of use. I even wrote a letter to the company to hear nothing back.

I now use avent.

Wow meiko thats bad ! Ive had my TT bottles for 15mths now & they are going strong especially as i use them in a lot of 6 now so they get washed continously with no dramas !

alexandra - I havent tried these bottles but as a few have said there isnt a set "cure" for colic unfortunately ! I wish there was at it was around 4mths that bubs finally settled down & we still had an odd nite here & there but once he hit 10mth he was fine :hugs:
Try & hang in there i know its hard. If your willing to spend the money on the bottle do it ! I found that changing Boof's teats & changing his dummy helped us greatly. He hated the normal style teat that just flows so pretty much as of 3wks we changed to the cross cut teats & havent looked back they are meant to be good for colic & the fact that bubs has to suck to get any milk out means they suck less air into their tummies. We also found Boof being a bigger bub wanted a bigger dummy so he went onto the 6mth+ dummy from 3wks also lol.
I can also recommend the Brauers range they have a colic & a stomach settling medicine which are great to help with wind etc but also being a natural remedy you dont feel like your dosing them up.
The only other advice i can give you is to massage bubs tummy after a feed & push his legs up & down to help try to get the wind to move. We also found putting Boof into his tummy after a feed helped a little also that & a good bath before bed to let him relax.
Good luck :hugs:

Hi there,
I used to work at Tommee Tippee and honestly, all they do is source samples from other companies, send them to China and get the Tommee Tippee logo printed onto whatever product they're copying.

The anti-colic (curved) bottles are supposed to reduce the air-flow in the bottle (there's a plastic shield at the bottom of the bottle that's supposed to do something) so that air bubbles don't form and swallowed by the baby to produce colic. Some people have said it works, others say it doesn't - I guess it just depends on the baby and how it feeds.
