Am I the only one that finds this weird?
SIL has just come back from overseas and everytime she comes, she brings DD a bottle of kids perfume.
The last time she came down DD was under 12 mths old, this time DDs 20mths and she just gave her another bottle. I havent used it on DD as I think its unnecessary. I like the natural smell of her.
SIL actually buys her son one every few weeks as she sprays him with it several times a day and puts some through his hair.
So is it weird or am I alone here? Does anyone else do this?

Perfume for kids.. Yeah, okay. Only the delicate stuff though nothing too heavy.
Perfume for a BABY though.. I do think that is a bit weird.
Avent sell a kind of 'Perfume' for babies. I was so weirded out when the assistant told me what it was. "You 'spritz' your baby if its hot and they smell nice. :)"
Um.. Ooookay.
ETA: Though I do like buying the baby shampoo that smells nice. I have the Pigeon kind right now and it is SO nice.

Ok SHE seems over the top...however my 11 year old has perfume (just the cheap sort) and deodorant and stuff. I think the other kids had little ones too...that they played around with.
But I wouldn't do what your SIL does - gosh! That's so weird!

That's revolting!:barf:
I wouldn't want my kids reeking of adult scents!
(oops reread "kids"perfume? what does it smell of?)

I'm pretty sure I'm allergic to perfume... I get all hayfeverish like...so won't be in our house.
I bought a kids hair de tangling spray the other day that smelt like strawberries...
...so if it was fruity natural smells it would be okay for older kids...not babies or toddlers.

It just smells like a floral scent for girls and more like lynx for boys. Well thats what the ones she got from overseas smell like.
I've seen large companies like Burberry selling baby pefume for ridiculous amount of money.
I get DD baby shampoo that smells nice but it still makes her smell like a child not like shes wearing my perfume....
I think its okay for tweens (is that what they call them nowadays?) to wear perfume and get body sprays etc but I think its a bit different for little children to be wearing it.
My friend is married to a Sri Lankan and the Johnson & Johnson brand over there do a 'cologne' for babies.... It smells really cute.... I am not sure if it is a cultural thing but i do know that the Sri Lankan's pride themselves on appearance and grooming.... and extending this to their children This is how i understand it to be...
My friend uses it for special occasions...

Gawd, I'm lucky if they go out in something that matches, let alone perfume. Today my daughter went out in the cutest Gymboree outfit and then added red and black socks from Spain and pink shoes. I don't think even kiddie perfume could have masked that!

LOL sounds like my 5 year old she is very eclectic/eccentric in her clothing choices!
Anyway back to OP, i wouldn't put perfume on my bub, nor would i consider buying it! DD5 would no doubt love it but i have never purchased it.

what a stupid idea really...i mean for babies. for older girls maybe but for babies...cmon...
ok, that's weird - you aren't alone in thinking that lollie!
however if I could get a perfume that covered the scent of baby chuck I might use it on DS (and me!!) LOL  - just kidding
I like the smell of babies and toddlers too, all the milky, dirty, yucky goodness!! :D
I have to agree... deliberately buying baby perfume is OTT...
HOWEVER, I have a very delicate perfume (Givenchy Jardin de Butterflies) and everytime DD sees me put it on (very rarely) she wants some too, so I do one spray on her chest, on top of her clothes, and I can't even smell it a few minutes later. It's more of an imitating mummy thing than anything for her!!

Sometimes I spray some perfume or deodarant on Hayley cos she sees me putting some on myself I'm not sure if I'd buy her any at this age. Each to their own though. I'm sure too sure about a baby wearing perfume but a child age around 2 every now and then isn't too bad I guess.
