Monday night saw one of the most beautiful freebirths I have attended thus far. I'm really looking forward to the next!

Lovely! Warms your soul, hey? :D

Amazing how much more prevalent it is becoming, isn't it? You are down south somewhere?

The majority of my fb clients are very well educated on their decision and absolutely responsible for their own births. So I see no problem with it.

Now only if more women thought the same way!

I think one reason why freebirth *works* is because taking back total responsibility and thus, power for your health, welfare, safety and that of your baby is optimal no matter WHERE you give birth. If more women were able to do that, and our birthing services allowed and affirmed that, we'd see better results. It is impossible to deny that power politics do play into what happens when women give birth, and I guess freebirthers side-step all that.

If careproviders attended births the way a doula (if she's doing her job right) does when she attends a freebirth - as quietly present servant to the couple, acknowledging that the couple are in charge here, and it is they who carry the ultimate responsibility for the outcome - we'd be better off.

So, there's things we can all learn from freebirth.

i think it is awesome - am planning one with this baby (my 4th!), after 3 hospital/birth centre births
