DD 13.5mths use to let me brush her teeth briefly but she is now refusing, she jams her teeth and lips shut while protesting. Does anyone have any suggestions? It started when her molars were coming through, so I assume he gums may have been sore when brushing but how can I get her to open up and let me brush. Sometimes I can get in with a wet facewasher but the tooth brush is just being refused.

i had the same thing so i bought her a new tooth brush that looked as different as posible to her old one and just let her play/chew on it for a few days in the bath, after that she would let me brush them again, though now at 2 she wont has to do it her self!!!

I dont really know, I am very lucky, and have not had one problem my kids are happy to brush their teeth all day.

Maybe buy a wiggles tooth brush, ( or what ever they are into) my kids love the wiggles.

We have your turn and my turn, they brush them selves, and then I brush,

even when they were little as soon as they could I gave them a toothbrush of their own just to chew on and plays with, and we always encouraged, "brush your teeth" yay!!!!

talk it up maybe, oh so and so brushes their teeth,

Maybe, thats what I would try.

give bub a toothbrush and sit in front of them, and let them brush your teeth, while you brush theirs at the same time.

we had the same thing with DS2. Got him an electric toothbrush and he looooves it. Don't think they are meant for under 2's but we have been using it on DS for a while and I figure it's better than not cleaning them????

Ds did the same thing. I just gave him the toothbrush while we sat in the lounge and I read him stories. I had a cup with a scrap of freezing cold water in the bottom of it for him to dip the toothbrush in. He never really brushed but he did chew and suck and I helped to brush when he would let me. I figured his teeth were way too sore to really brush and I didn't want to create a negative association in his mind with brushing. He loved the cold water. Maybe it soothed his gums. Give it a go. Make it icy cold. They don't need toothpaste at this age anyway.
