Are the Cloth mums in Canberra interested in a picnic celebrating cloth nappies?
The events in Canberra are looking a little bare for reusable nappy week.
So I was hoping that there might be some mummies interested in a picnic for mums and bubs using cloth or interested in using cloth?
Western park might be a good place to meet, it's central and fun.
Nappy week is from the 13th of October to the 19th, we already have events on Monday the 13th and Sunday the 19th, so I though maybe the tues, wednesday or thurs?
I'm just waiting to hear back from westfield belco about an event there so I guess it will depend on what happens with that.
So who is interested?
I'm open to suggestions for the park/place to meet up as well

Congratulations Kate!!!
How does Thursday the 16th of October sound?
Starting at 11:30 at Weston Park
It's Noah's birthday so he should be able to have a nice day out, and we can celebrate cloth nappies at the same time :p

Hi Everyone,
Reusable Nappy Week is fast approaching, and I have finally got a few things put together for the week
So right now I am calling for support!
These are the events that have been organised:
Monday 13th of October 11am - 3pm - Information display at the Canberra Hospital
* I would love to have a couple of volunteers to keep me company, so if you are able to get a babysitter,
or have a baby happy enough to hang out in a pram for an hour or 2 I would love to hear from you!
Thursday 16th of October 11:30am until your babies are ready to go - Picnic at Weston Park Yarralumla (http://www.tams.act.gov.au/play/parks_forests_and_reserves/parkslakesandponds/urbanparks/districtparks/westonpark)
I'm hoping to get as many cloth mums together as we can to show off our cloth bums with pride,
chat to other mummies who use cloth or are interested in using cloth.
So bring some lunch to munch while we chat, and the kids will have a great time playing in the park.
Non cloth users are more then welcome too, we might even convert someone
Sunday 19th of October 10am - 4pm - Nappy Sewing Class at Rosemont The Patchwork Shop Tuggeranong Hyperdome
Free Class, materials will be extra, I will have kits available to purchase or feel free to bring your own
Sewing machine required, as well as basic sewing supplies.
I'm hoping to do a pocket nappy demo in the morning, and a fitted nappy demo in the afternoon.
* I'm donating my time to teach this class, so I'd really love it if I can get at least 10 people to attend.
* Also any nappy suppliers willing to help out with the kits please let me know.
Otherwise I'll purchase the fabrics and put them together myself
If anyone is willing to spare some of their time to help out that would be fantastic.
Or if anyone has any more ideas for events or has something in mind please let me know ASAP
Hope to see you at the Picnic!
x Emma x

 me too please!
I should be able to make the picnic..
& I'd definitly like to learn to sew a pocket - do we need a fancy machine? I'm using MIL's atm & I've only recently put one on lay-by.. its mid range so not real fancy either.. but will hopefully be ok for some nappies & everything else I need it for.
I'll see if sis is interested too..

m2c1 - you could always borrow my machine for the day if you like.
Em, I'll be at the picnic, and I'll come along to the sewing workshop too. I went to one about 18 months ago and saw Lesley sew an AIO and Donna from bits for bots sew a fitted, and just love picking up everyone else's little hints and tips.
I'd love to help out at the display too, will just have to see if I can organise someone to look after Is. We're planning on going to Qld the week before, so if DH can take the Monday off too, he could baby sit and I could come down and help out. Will let you know when we sort everything out.

You need polyester thread, Gutterman sew all is good, you can buy them at Rosemont for $3 ea if you forget on the day.
For a pocket it will be $10, for the fitted it will be $15-$20, depending on whether you want a printed cotton on the outside
Hi there :),
I am a first time bub hubber and not sure if I am going about it the right way but here goes.
I am a mother of two, one 3 year old girl and a six week old boy so feeling a little sleep deprived and overwhelmed but loving it. Currently on maternity leave and looking to meet other mums to meet up with during the week. :yelclap:
Not sure what else to say at this stage but lovely to meet you all. Hope we can chat soon. :ecomcity:

 we're coming tomorrow..
I've been to that park before but was aaaages ago so not so familiar.. looks big on the map - will it be easy for me to find everyone? I might just be late searching for y'all!
I know that there is a playground with a small kiosk (is this an english word?) for ice etc.... is this the place where the picnic will be held?

Thanks to those who came, Noah had a really great day :)
The park isn't as good as a remember sadly it desperately needs a makeover, next time I'll stick to the other parks we've been to lately. Tidbinbilla, the cotter, black mountain peninsula are all good

Have you guys ever been to the adventure playground in Kambah... I haven't been there in a while, but it's quite shady, and there is an undercover area that used to be a barn..... Perhaps next meetup we could go there??
Im sorry I didnt make it though, ended up having hubby come home from work*sigh* I was looking forward to it too.
Hopefully next time :>
