I was just putting DD to sleep and pacing up and down the room as I usually do and once again AS USUAL my mind started wandering. I looked up at the shelves in her room and counted 20 teddy bears, not one of which i have purchased:eek: !!! They include a big winne the pooh, a carebear, TWO pink panthers, a teddy bear that giggles when you sqeeze its paw and even one that my friend made from scratch. Now don't get me wrong, they make the room look pretty, but that is about ALL they do!! i'm hoping that when alyssa is older i can interest her in teddy bear picnics coz otherwise they are just going to gather dust!!
I am interested to hear your stories about presents you were given for your baby that were never ever used??
We got Teddy Bears too! I've probably got 20, and they sit there on the shelf probably praying that they are going to get dusted and played with!
And socks! DS was born (and still has) HUGE FEET, so the 0-3 month socks didnt fit for too long at birth.. But everyone brought us socks!
Mel :)
thats all i was given when my son was born. i have over 20 bears but im not sure how many.

Ds has heaps of teddy bears and other soft toys too. I originally had them in various spots around his room, then i ended up chucking them all in a toy box. I was tempted to pack most of them away or give them away to less fortunate kids. I thought it seemed such a waste and he wasn't the slightest bit interested in them. One day, out of the blue he suddenly took an interest in them - carries them around the house, gives them kisses and cuddles and takes a fave to bed. So they're not going anywhere for now!! Apparently I used to line all mine up on the floor and pretend I was the teacher!
Thomas has stuffed animals of all shapes and sizes on the shelves in his room, as well as on the floor, and a huge box (the one our canon mp760 printer came in, big box!) full under the cot, and another in the top of his cuboard  but as kids my brothers and sister and I used to have fantastic toy fights (think snowball fights with stuffed animals instead of snow!) with dad. Tommy has a full arsenal!!!

Yep, Claire has hundreds of teddies too (okay, I may be exaggerating - but only a bit! ). We got lots of teddys, towels ( ) and clothes when she was born. The clothes were good, but she grew out of them all within 3 months, cause all but 1 person bought 000s and she was a big bubba (stil is!)
Its lucky for us that Claire seems to love her teddies - she gets sick of them sometimes, but we just keep rotating them, and she's always playing with them. She giggles when we show a new one (or one she hasn't seen for a bit) to her - it so cute!
My DS has heaps too...never counted them tho. He has taken the same to monkey to bed with him since he was about 18mths old, so thats definatly his fave
I was planning on donating the rest to life line or somewhere like that once he had a few faves to keep, but DH wouldn't let me coz most of them came from his family  (my family always thought a bit about what they were buying and got things he could use at whatever age he was).
I remember reading somewhere ages ago, might have been on here, might have been a magazine, anyway, the idea was to name each teddy ( or whatever) after the person who gave it to them...so my DS's monkey would be called 'Ruth" after his aunt who gave it to him.
Love My Tommy Bub I like that toy fight idea  sounds like the perfect way to get DS & DH outta my hair for a while tomorrow.
am i going crazy because this thread is in the recipe section. what does teddy bears have to do with recipes?
