Dilating.. but where's the labor?

Hi Guys-
Just wondering if anyone out there can answer my querie or discuss a similar experience:detective:
I'm Pregnant with 2nd baby and four days ago my OB found me to be fully effacted and 3cm dilated. My EDD is tommorow. I feel great, not even the odd Braxton Hicks and don't care if I go over, but I was wondering if this is a common experience... I'm considering it a painless 'head-start' :fingerscrossed: , but also wondering how long this kind of thing draws out for and how much dilation can occur before labor just has to begin?

i had my checkup when i was 2 days overdue and they found i was 2 cms dialated. this was friday morning about 10am. i then started to feel mild cramps on sunday morning about 2am. i went to hospital on sunday night about 7pm and they did another internal and i was only 3cm. they sent me home with a sleeping tablet then i ended up back there on monday night at 5.30pm. i was ony 4 cm. at 3am tuesday morning they did another internal to check before they gave me the epi and i was still only 4 cm. things didn't really start until after the epi and they broke my waters about 5am then after nearly 2 hours pushing they vacummed dd out about 10.17am on tuesday morning.

it can be really frustrating. just waiting. your body needs time to adjust so try not to hurry it along just be patient

I was 1cm on the Monday went to be induced on the Wednesday and was still only 2cm. I guess it can probably take awhile!

Oh im sure it must be frustrating when all you want is for it all to be over & done with ! :hugs:
Dont stress it will happen when it happens unfortunately !
My aunty was 7cms dialated a month before one of her sons arrived she was worried he would fall out :p
Your body will go into labour when its ready but if not sometimes a little nudge is all it needs !

It didn't happen to me personally, but a good friend of mine on another board walked around 5cm dilated for nearly three weeks with her first baby. Nice quick labour for her though :D

With my 2nd I a week over and was 4cm dialated on the thursaday and started having the odd pain Saturday afternoon got to hospital at about 5pm and had her that night 6.17pm.

I just kept active and tried to keep my mind as busy as possible, I actually done my mums bookeeping and half way through said to DH "You better get me to the hospital" Was in an hour and she was born. Yay

Everyone is different tho and I hope you have a speedy delivery!!!!:fingerscrossed:
