i want to 'wear' my DD but have found tha both the Bjorn and Buba Moe make my back and shoulders realy soar after about 30 min .

I was looking at the hug a bub and the ergo and was wondering what people thought of these  DD is 4 months and only small (about 5.6 kilo). what do you think is better in tearms of comfort etc

TIA :)

The hug a bub is good, very comfy, and fold up small enough to fit in the nappy bag

I havn't used a ergo, so can't comment on that

also I love my pocket slings, I have found them great

I used the Ellaroo Mei Tai...it folds up really small
you can wear it on front or back, and used it from birth (on front) and still pull it out to put a 'not feeling100%' 20 month old on my back.

I have a ring sling,..it's fab!!! It;s called a Maya Wrap sling,... Cricket is 7kg.,..and sometimes I wear him in it all day,.. doesn't hurt at all,! I have also just bought an Ergo,..but he is only 3months,..so I can't wear him in that for another month or so,....:)

That is one issue with the ergo, I'll confess. It doesn't fold up small and compact like the HAB does. I can get it into my nappy bag but it's sort of shoved in and blocks access to everything else in there.

Having said that, if I was using the ergo, I wouldn't need to stick it into the bag :)

What colour do you have B? It's dark, isn't it????? Did you find that A got hot in it when he was small??? I have ordered the camel one cause I am worried about Raff overheating,..

I have the black and burgundy one to hide dirt. Silly me forgot about the colour of baby puke

I think the heat generated was mostly from close contact body heat rather than caused by the colour. I wasn't likely to be out in direct sunlight with him in the carrier anyway as I tended to walk in the shade as much as possible. Didn't want him getting sun burnt and stuff. Vitamin D wasn't a concern then :p

Also, there is a fair bit more airflow with the ergo compared to something like the HAB, which is like strapping a baby in with a couple of layers of t-shirt. I can't remember either of us being too hot.

Yep that was the first big test. I used it briefly as a test drive the day before - just to Woollies and back.

He was ... 5 months? That was January, wasn't it? It was during the hot weather, anyway!

i dont own an baby carriers but have borrowed friends ones. i have used a baby bjorn and as i have a bad back it was no good. the ergo was wicked, i would buy one if i was going to buy a baby carrier. my only issue with the ergo is that if i was on my own i had to do it up on me then try and drop my DD into it from the top. i couldnt just clip it on at my hips and hold her while lifting the front up and then trying to do it up at the back as it was too high up my back to reach. iykwim.

Hug-a-bub all the way! DD loves it, they get really close to you in it, they can also can mold themselves naturally in it. DD suffered badly with colic and HAB was the only thing that managed to calm her everytime!

ERGO!!!!! I love mine and could not live without it. The HAB was great for a newborn but since DD was around the 4 mth mark we have used the ergo nearly everyday.

Ergo - best baby item I have bought. It's onto kid number2 now and DS loves it as much as DD did.

Ergo here too.

Recently I thought Ava was too big for the thing, my back would hurt after a short while of wearing it. Then I tried loosening the waist strap and letting it hang further down my hips, now I can wear her for ages again :D

So if you ever have issues with it remember to play around with the straps and having bub sit differently before giving up on it.

Ring slings all the way for me!! I use them from newborn up until 3 or so years of age, love them as they are just SO easy to use, and take up NO space :)

I have a Moby Wrap (like a Hug-A-Bub) that I picked up for around $50 dollars and I love it...with all my heart. If you can sew, you can google a pattern and make it for very little $$ and ALSO by an Ergo! I'm currently looking at getting one.

Hi - just looked at the maya wrap - looks great! But how hot is the fabric? Having bubs in March so going into winter here on the Gold Coast - will it be ok?
