I just sent an email out to the fam saying that I'm happy to host Christmas Dinner this year! What would possess me to do a thing like that???

Perhaps I realise the drive to Deception Bay for brunch/lunch and then all the way back to Ipswich for dinner before meeting in the middle for home?
Or maybe it's the fact that at my dad's place Cobey can't touch, play with or look at anything without getting in trouble?

Right, let's now start a list of all the stuff I have to buy and do before December 25th!

 Woot woot, there's a big Xmas bash going on at Seekrit's place by the looks of it  I get out of it every year by saying our house it too small for DH's big family ;) I'm sure you'll throw a great party.

I think Seek should hire a spit and roast a whole lamb.........

Or perhaps a hangi?..............

Is your soil sandy or clayey?

Good luck, my tip is go for paper plates. Last time my Grandparents hosted xmas dinner they told me they were still washing up at 10.30.......

Brave girl:yelclap:I have decided, for the first time in years, not to get together with our family this Xmas Day. I am so fed up with all the driving :( It's three hours to my Mums place now and two hours to my brothers, but Mums bday is on Xmas eve so i should at least help her celebrate that :o I just want a nice relaxing Chrissie day at home this year

You're supplying the house - it's up to everyone else to supply the food, drinks, eating utensils and decorations:laughing:

j/k although we do share out things - mum brings salads, IL's bring deserts and we do the rest.

Go for paper plates, plastic cutlery and cups and if lots of kids are coming, disposible table clothes. I usually don't like to waste things, but it's such a huge day that at the end of it you just want to pull the wheelie bin around and dump it all in.

Make sure you have somewhere for drinks to go(those big plastic storage bins are pretty good so that you don't have to buy lots of esky's), make sure you have enough chairs, serving implaments, sharp knives for slicing hams and roasts, sunscreen and towels(if you have a pool), cricket stuff if you have a backyard big enough to play and make sure you stock up on toilet paper and soap before hand(you don't want to run out of these on christmas day with a house full of guests!!!).

Do a barbie - and make DH do the cooking.

Everyone who comes can bring a salad or a dessert and some drinks.

Buy some nice bread, make a pudding.

Voila - done.

Oh and the menfolk should do the clean up too :D

 Must be the week for it.

I have just been advised by my sisters (x2) that Christmas will be at my house this year ..... Thanks girls

I was actually going to offer anyway ... and both DH and I have pretty large families so it is a complete zoo - but mostly people are happy to bring something or contribute $ towards food.

I just have to get organised and dish out the lists of who is to bring what .....
