DF, Chloe and I have decided to go for a visit this July! Stopping in LA for a while too.
:) In all my bubhub days I never knew there was a thread like this lol.
another american here.
I have been living overseas since '94 in various countries...with Dh (i tried england but did not like living there). we were in Sydney for the past 8 years and just moved up to Brisbane in early January. I am from New York City originally.
i saw someone mention pizza and i have to say it is one of the things that cannot be replicated here - no one makes pizza like New York pizza.
food and shopping are my 2 biggest things i miss living overseas.

EskimoMumma: I live in Doncaster East, are you in Melb as well? I lived in Houston (Harris County) for 3 years, from 9th grade to 11th grade, 1988 - 1991, then my family moved back to California.
All: I do not miss the food, or coffee, but do miss the convinience of shopping.. I can never find clothes I like.. or shoes.. I actually requested a catalogue from Bloomingdale's so that I could pick out stuff and have my sister buy and ship them for me, Im waiting for it. And it seems to me that older people in the US were nicer, baby boomers here are soo rude :-) Besides that, I love it here.
Paula
Hi there! I too am an American. I have been living in Sydney for just over 4 years now. I am from Arizona. I also miss the clothes...and on occasion some foods.I just had a baby boy on May 16. My sister was here and brought me heaps of really cute Carters clothes for the baby.

Filled with enchilada sauce and chilli mix and all kinds of goodies.
And my favourite, OLD NAVY clothes for Chloe. :D

Thought Id pop in and say hi from another ex-Californian! :) Ive lived here in Sydney for 7 years now as met and married my Aussie (ex-kiwi) hubby here. LOVE so many aspects of Australian life, better than American life....but like some of you said, I miss Old Navy and the convenience of everything! I think especially in Sydney, something as simple as parking is always such a mission! I also miss Mexican food, altho have found a pretty authentic restaurant in the CBD. Anyway, thought I would say hi!! :) xxx

Amy, theres a place in the city - Cafe Pacifico, around the corner from Hard Rock Cafe. I find its the closest thing to home...hhmmm...Mexican sounds good! :)
Wow, thanks, definitely check it out!
Did you guys know about www.usafoods.com.au (http://www.usafoods.com.au)? They are kinda expensive, but if you need a fix of American candy or foods, you got it! :)
Are there any groups for Americans? Like even Mother's Groups? Would be awesome.

Hello to the new posters!
Maybe we should organise a meet at this Mexican restaurant down at the CBD?
Gosh I'm game!
If anyone would like me to pm them some recipe reproductions my Mum and I worked on, just ask.
One is for an old dish taco bell used to make.
It's like a beef enchilada. Oh it is good!
Also have a recipe for chicken enchilada's.
They actually taste like the real stuff you get back home. :( Oh tears.... why oh why does food have such a hold on me.
Hope to hear more from all of you.
Id love to have a meet up at the Mexican Restaurant one night! :)
I miss the food at times. Especially Mexican.
There are lots of other things that remind me of my childhood and I always like to have them as a treat for memories. Especially Tootsie Rolls. :)
Do you have Halloween with your kids?
I had a American friend who lived in Wollongong and it was so great, we used to have American dishes and we each threw each other's Baby showers. She has moved back to the US :(
