Hi everyone,

My DH and I would love to hear about any opinions/reviews from anyone who has had their child or children (or relies/friends) at Mackay Base Hospital and Mackay Mater Hospital.

We're unsure which way to go - we know that the midwives at the Base are amazing, but the rooms at the Mater allow DH to stay with me overnight.

We would love to hear from you - good, bad, evil & amazing! :)

Thanks

hi safari mum..ok so i actually gave birth to my daughter at the birthing centre just behind the maternity ward at the base hospital..Was fantastic there..had my own room with a spa if you are wanting a water birth but i used it to relax in..a queen size bed so hubby can stay with you as long as you are there for and as many people as you wish to have with you before, during, and after birth,.the midwives are simply the best and feels like you are at home.I am in the process of trying for another baby and i will be going back to the birthing centre. On wednesday nite my sister in law gave birth to a beautiful baby boy and this was at the mater..everyone there is also great and you are also in your own room and hubby can also stay there..i think they are both great but i prefer the birthing centre..good luck to you xoxo

Hi Trace,

Thanks for your reply after all this time! :)

Congrats on the birth of your child at the Birth Centre - I'm pleased it all went so well for you.

Just wondering, how long were you able to stay at the Birth Centre after delivery? I heard thru the grapevine that you must leave within 24 hours of having your baby...

I look forward to hearing from you again!

Thanks!
