Every morning, as we eat brekkie, Scarlet-Rose and I watch Miami Animal Police and RSPCA on the Animal Planet channel.

This morning, they had a husky who was shot by a stranger who was angry at the dog's owner's son.

Scarlet-Rose saw the blood on the husky's fur and says "Dog ow?" and I said "Yes, the dog got hurt. A nasty man shot him with a nasty gun. Isn't that mean?"

This was our conversation:

Scarlet: "Bad man. Dog ow"
Me: "Yes, now the dog is going to the vet. All better"
Scarlet: "Check ears?"
Me: "Yes, he'll check the dog's ears"
Scarlet: "Check mouth?"
Me: "Yes, and the dog's mouth"
Scarlet: "Check teese?" {she can't pronounce teeth, for some reason}
Me: "And teeth"
Scarlet: "Check fur?"
Me: "Yes, fur"
Scarlet: "Check *panting noise*?"
Me: "Yes, he'll check the breathing"
Scarlet: "Good. Dog no breathe"
Me: "The dog can breathe just fine"
Scarlet: "Not with hole"
Me: "Hole? His mouth?"
Scarlet: "No mumma! Hole in LUNG"
Me: "I don't think there's a hole in his lung"
Scarlet: "Yes IS Mumma! Blood mouth, breathe...." *makes bubbling sound* "Hole lung"

Basically, she knew when an animal has lung damage, there's blood around the mouth and a 'bubbling' sound from the chest.

All through her life, I've talked about veterinary medicine just as a thoughtless :ecomcity:, but I never knew she'd pick up on it!

My girl's going to grow up and be a vet just like me:smiliedance:!

I guess it just shows how much your kids pick up from you without you even noticing.

Animal medicine is the one thing I excel in, and so it was naturally the first thing I'd start talking about to her.

I think she would, honestly.

She's obsessed with animals. All she ever watches is the Animal Planet channel {"Ammimal Pannet"} on foxtel.
Forget Hi-5 or Disney cartoons, if Animal Planet isn't on the tv you'll get a real talking-to.

She's *very* know it all, as well, just like I was at her age.
We saw a dead cat, and I go "Oh, look, the cat's sleeping!" and she says "Mumma...that cat dead. Not sleep"

I felt like an idiot.

"Mumma...that cat dead. Not sleep"

Thats so cute. I love hearing kids correct adults at times. I still remember my sis and I playing with a french/aussie toddler. We were all talking in French and my sister was said something about taking the legoman to "l'hospital". He very sternly corrected her "hopital!"

Once we were watching Life Of Mammals and I say "Oh, look Scarley {my nickname for her}, it's a cute little red fox!" and she turns around really slowly and gives me 'the look' and says "Mumma...that fennerc fosk"
Meaning, I suppose fennec fox.

Josh almost wet himself laughing and said "Oh, she totally owned you!"

I was so annoyed. A 2 year old is smarter than I am.

next doors dog killed my 8 mth old rex rabbit the other day, (although we found our 6mth old pup with it, they grew up together so our pup was real protective of the rabbit they'd play together when the rabbit was out) chopper (the pup) had gizmo on his bed nuzzling him like he was trying to wake him up,

anyway a friend asked where gizmo was a couple of days ago and DD was in the room so i said he had hopped away, DD piped up and said "no mummy gizmo dead, _____ dog killeded him" we hadn't told her what happened.
