Does anyone know if they give or can direct me to free advice on financial matters?

Depends what your situation is. If you want a financial planner/councelor to help with your debt/bills you can access them through a crisis centre (centrelink can tell you your closest one) or places like Salvation Army etc also have this service.

If it's more of a "legal" question or contractual type thing then yes Legal Aid can help. They do all sorts of Law :)

Many lawyers offer a free initial phone consultation - maybe look them up in the yellow pages?

Becasmum is right. You can also phone centrelink to put you in touch with a Legal aid office in your area, you dont have to be on a centrelink payment to access it.
