Well my darling little girl,
I have meant to write this now for soooo long! Mummy can not believe you are now 10 mths old! So, hear goes.
Story starts here. Our wedding was set and planned for 24th of Feb 07 to my best friend of 6 years. We both decided to start TTC after the wedding..But three, yes THREE! days before the wedding, I decided upon insistance from a work colleage / good friend to POAS on my last day of work. I quickly went to the loo, had a quick glance, saw nothing, popped it back into the box in my handbag and walked out to meet my friend..Well she asks to see, I reach into the bag, pull and it and to my absolutely suprise, TWO LINES! I am thrilled, scared and sooo shocked...Well, it was decided... A BIG DRY WEDDING NIGHT FOR ME!!
Fast forward, 9 mths, bubs was due on the 4th of Nov. Friday the 26th came and I had decided about 2pm to lay down in bed and read one of my latest gossip magazines. I was awoken at exactly 4pm to a resounding POP! My waters broke all over the bed and I was terrified...I was at home alone, DH 1.5 hrs away at work. I got up, got super excited, grabbed the phone and ran into the shower.
Phoned DH, shocked him and we made plans for a friend to pick me up, and I'd meet DH at the hospital ASAP. No pains after about 15mins from water breaking. I remember now I had no idea what to expect, or do!!
Right on 4.15pm I had my first contraction...mmmmm..not too bad I remember thinking..Next one came, 4.19pm, mmmm, that's ok too. From there, they started to get worse and worse. Meet DH at the hospital at 5.30pm and was issued to birthing suite and finally checked at 5.50pm. Was 4.5cm dilated. Woohoo I thought, and promptly asked for an EPI. Middie tried to tell me to wait, but I was sure, I wanted one! Finally at 6.30pm they said the doctor was still about 1.5 hrs away from me, so I continued with the gas. Contractions were 2 mins apart and lasting 45 seconds at this stage. By 8pm, middie went on dinner break and the saviour of all middie's entered. First middie said to 'tea break middie', she's prosterior..(While I thought, what the .... does that mean!)
Tea break midde came over to me and asked, had I been checked recently, I said no. Middie then said to me, Cmon love, we need you off your back, over the bed to get this baby moving. As soon as I was over the back of the bed, by 8.15pm the contractions I felt took on a whole new level of pain! Doctor came in to room then to discuss EPI and said to tea break midde, please check her again before I do this. (Mind you, I had only been checked when I arrived)
To my absolute horror, both middies then said, ok, put the gas down and next contraction you can push, you're fully dilated! OUch I remember thinking, I'm going to feel this!
After 30 mins of pushing, our beautiful angel was born at 9.02pm. Total labour 5 hrs. No EPI, just gas. Only one stich!
We named her Ada Carole Ann. Afterwards I felt so pleased with how my first labour went.
Ada and I came home after 2 days in hospital. She is the absolute light of our lives and I thank god every single day that she was sent to us. :flowerz:
