Monday morning at 1:00am I was induced at 39 weeks as my sciatic pain had gotten so bad that I couldn't walk more than a few metres without a lot of pain!. I had my my mum staying with my DH and I to help out and my sister came over to stay that night as well to watch my DD Sierra.
Anyway, DH and I turned up at the hospital and the midwife wasted no time putting a CTG on me and then doing an internal and inducing me with the gel. By 7 in the morning I was regularily contracting but I wasn't dilated enough for the OB to rupture my membranes. Bubs was head down but high up, so if he had ruptured my membranes chances are we would have had to go for a c-section. So he decides to check on me at 12 to see if there are any changes and break my membrane then if my cervix was more favourable. Unfortunately it wasn't and my contractions had slowed and started to ease of so the OB decided to put off the induction for another day and admit me into the hospital on bed rest so that my back could get better .
My due date came and instead of bubs being ready to come out she decided to turn transverse!. Luckily though she turned back a day later and went back to being head down .
Finally after being in hospital for 9 days (I was 40 weeks 3 days) the OB checked my cervix and gave the all clear to induce me :yelclap: , or he would do a c-section, so either way I was going to have my baby that day!.
So on the 9th at 7am I had another dose of the gel... at 12 he did an internal and told me that the head was still high but that things were softening so he gave me another dose of the gel.
From then on my contractions finally got going and got regular, but then started to ease off again. I started to panic thinking that I was either in for another day of contraction for nothing or a ceasar which I really didn't want. The OB turned up at 5pm and I started crying telling him my contractions were getting further apart and less intense. He decided to check me anyway and found to my surprise that I was already 5cm dilated! He broke my waters and told the midwives to start the syntocyn drip if my contractions didn't start getting closer together, I was put on a drip anyway to keep up my fluids (took the anethetist 3 goes to find a vein!).
My contractions however went to being right on top of each other and really painfull. I started on the Gas for a couple of hours and then some Pethadine. By 7pm I was 7cm but bubs head was still fairly high up. The OB thought I would probably still be labouring my midnight, my mum and DH having seen me go through birth before guessed around 9 or 10ish.
By 8:45pm I had the urge to push and the midwives didn't believe me!, one of them called my OB and told him to make his way to the hospital anyway and was told that I could start pushing if I wanted as I was 10cm.
I started pushing and the midwives were surprised that even though bubs was still high up, I managed to push her down and by 9:09pm had pushed her out!.
The OB arrived just as they put her on my chest. She was blue and had had the cord around her neck, she wasn't breathing well so they hurridly cut the cord and whisked her away. Apparently though as soon as they got to the next room she had started to pink up and I finally heard her cry!.
All week the Midwives had told me they suspected a big bub but I didn't expect the size they told me when they returned her to my eagerly awaiting arms.
At 2 pounds heavier than my DD1 Caelyn Olivia was born weighing 9pound 12 ounces on the 09/09 at 09:09!, her head Circ was 37 and Length 53cm!.
(I didn't have this part in earlier, as after a convo realised I had forgotten to put in this part lol.)
I already had a drip in for fluids and so they gave me the syntocin in that to contract, but I cant remember if they said it was for bleeding or not. Then they put in a catheter so I could sleep all night and not have to get up as I was in a fair amount of pain (cause of my back and labour on top of that), and then just to add to the amount of things going on that were degrading the middie gave me a suppository for the pain as the pethadine has worn off by that point... meanwhile Im telling her there is nothing wrong with my mouth and I could take something orally lol. Then I got wheeled up to my room and they then took Caelyn to the nursery so I could sleep.
Blood loss would certainly explain how well I slept lol, the middies made a joke about it the next day as they could barely wake me to feed Caelyn and even then I kept falling asleep while attempting it!.
Im happy to say that Caelyn is doing really well and she is a very contented baby!.
Im also doing well, I only had 3 stiches where Caelyn tried to come out with a hand next to her head, and my back is slowly feeling better although Im still hobbling around. I am getting physio though and its helping!.
Sorry for the :ecomcity:
Will add photos soon!
