i think im mainly venting. heres why

i thought i solved everything by putting my 23month old son in a big bed because hes been refusing to sleep in a cot. so

2 nights go by where he woke up once at 5am then comes in with us.. then up at 7am

and now last night he wakes up at midnight and then a few times after that and then wants to get up at 6am:no:

we have changed nothing he has a set routine and we sing to him to get him to sleep..

What are we doing wrong. he goes to bed at 7.30pm-8pm and has a little day nap..

but there is one thing we did friday that we dont normally do.. Playgroup but wouldnt he want to sleep more when worn out.. he doesnt talk or understand much but i know he needs sleep..

any advice or anything for me PLEASE me and dh are sooooo tired and he wakes up my dd who then wants my boobs to get her to sleep:sleeping:

We went through something simialar with DD. We had a few bad nights. But in the end we put our foot down and said she had to stay in her own room in her own bed. At least until the sun came up. Was tough for a few days but now all is fine in there

I dont think waking up in the middle of the night would be affecting his learning ability....my 8 year old still came in until he was 5 and now my 4 year old and 22 month old still wake up in the night. They are all just fine  Might be a bit of a squeeze in the bed in 7 weeks time though:laughing: I dont know, I guess we have just chosen not to worry about it...they do grow out of it in their own time.

One thing we did do with Ds1 was put his little fold out sofa bed on the floor next to our bed with a pillow etc and said that if he wanted to come in he had to sleep on that (I would hold his hand whlie he went back to sleep.)

I agree with Skittles. Ds was like waking up and go into our room during night time as well. There were times when I had to walk him back to his room for 10 times in just 15 minutes.

We were getting desperate also, asking why because we didn't change his routine at all. But I think they do it because they now know that they can get out of bed.

We ended up just keep walking him back into his room. I followed supernanny, first time said good night darling, second time say good night, third time we don't say anything and continue from there.

It took us maybe a week or a bit more, but he did learn that he'll end up in his room anyway, so now if he just wakes up during the night, he'll just go back to sleep.

Oh and when ds was in his cot, he woke up around 7or 8am. Now he's in big bed, he wakes up between 6-6.30am. So I'm pretty sure, it's normal.
