My 11 moth old has been biting me and DH on the shoulders for the last couple of weeks real hard then laughs after. We just say no and put him down. It has been since he has had all 4 top teeth up top.

My question is

Why is he doing it? Does anyone know what to do?

It really hurts its hard enough to bruise!

It probably just feels good. He's teething and his poor lil gums are probably a bit sore, thats why a lot of kids do this at this age....maybe give him a teething ring every time he bites you and touch your shoulder and say no firmly, then give him the ring??

Is he angry when he does it? Frustrated? if not it's prob just the teething.

DD bites my shoulders when she is tired and at no other time. I generally put her down and say no biting but it normally esculates into crying as she is tired. I put her to bed when she does it. I think sometime it just feels good  but she does bruise me.

My son was exactly the same when he first got his top teeth, we did the same as you guys, just put him down and tried to ignore it. We figured he was just testing them out. My son loved the reaction of shock he got when he bit down, just tickled him pink to see the look on mummy's face, really hurt sometimes:o
Good luck and I hope he looses interest with it soon.

I think the first few times my DS may have done it cause I let out a big "OOWWWH". It hurt! He thought this was quite hilarious and has tried it since for shock value I think. Did your DS get a reaction the first few times? Otherwise my other DS does it when he is tired, No idea why though *shrugs* Hope this stage ends shortly for you:yes:

OMG I didnt realise but yes he only does it when he is tired and grizzly, but that sneaky little smile after he has done it is one very satisfied face. I think it feels good too.

I had blood on my pink shirt the other day and I thought it was mine he bit that hard! It was from his gums though.

My first son never did this, but it sounds like its not uncommon then and should pass :(

I think he loved the shock of my reaction the first few times cheeky little boy.

I might try the teething ring thing too
